United airlines checkin baggage allowance on Star alliance gold

Dear All,

Anyone holding star alliance gold status with other airlines travelled on United Airlines Award ticket booking within USA domestic travel?
If so being star alliance gold member did they allow checkin baggage at free of cost?
I'm planning to travel on award seat booking using united miles but will need to travel with checkin luggage. Wanted to know anyone have this experience and do they also allow companion to carry. Please let me know

UA is a full service carrier. So their tickets should already include 2x baggages of 20Kgs each.
Still, what's the Fare Type that you are looking at, then can check more. (Fare type is different than fare class, it's usually a letter as H/F/J/K/E, etc)...

However, being a Star Alliance Gold member will entitle you to 1 more bag of 20kgs. So, whatever your fare class is, that allowance, plus 1 bag of 20kgs for check in.

Regarding companion, no, your companion does not get the extra checked in baggage benefit... So, whatever their fare type is, that luggage only they can check in. However, if you both are travelling together, you can just use your name to check that bag on their behalf.
