User not eligible to apply for add on card

Hello,

I've just received my SBI Vistara Prime credit card, and in the add-on card section, I'm not able to apply for the add on card (Screenshot below).



Just FYI, I also own SBI cashback credit card, and there I'm able to see the option to apply for add on.

Does SBI Vistara Prime allow add on cards? Or am I missing something here?

surprising!! Looks something new or user specific...Earlier, it was easy to apply for addons and everone was allowed

If ur card is master variant, u can't apply add on card

Yes, it is mastercard variant. But why is it so? is it a govt. restriction?
Is it temporary or will it be forever?

Yes looks like this is so. Because my Cashback card is VISA variant and I'm able to apply for add on there.

What's strange is that the ban by RBI on Mastercard was lifted last year itself.
But still don't know if there's any restriction on add-on card.

Nothing strange with sbi cards which has turned into complete sarkari laidback attitude and foot in mouth policies.
Imo they have lost most of the touch & efficiencies that GE card left them.
It would get further worse from here.
