We all know these sites that offer prepaid products but never really ship.

I wanted some obscure electronics part so ordered from an ecom store knowing perfectly well that its highly probable to never see this money or the part. But I want to take some actions just to see what I can do.

So should I file en e-FIR on cyber crime portal? and apply for a chargeback?
Yes go for consumer helpline

You can register a complaint in the consumer forum...

Chargeback

Instead of submitting a complaint online, it's advisable to visit the local police station in person. Approach the officials at the station and request them to initiate the process of lodging an FIR. In case you encounter any reluctance from the Police Officer (PO) in registering the FIR, you can refer to the legal precedent set by the Lalita Kumari vs State of UP case, which establishes the mandatory requirement for FIR registration.
Should the PO still decline to file the FIR, consider drafting a formal letter addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) or Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) outlining the situation and seeking assistance. Ensure that you inquire about the acknowledgment number for your letter.
In addition to these steps, it may be worthwhile to heed the advice of community members: explore the possibility of filing a chargeback. This could involve contacting the relevant financial institution or platform to initiate a dispute resolution process related to the issue at hand. Hope it helps.

Claim charge back & do enquire a bit before ordering from any new websites.
