What happens when transaction is declined due to being overlimit of manual set limit in app?

Recently I've had a small problem with RBL zomato card, yesterday I had a transaction declined due to error "user set limit exceeding", funny thing is actually it was not exceeding but I changed the settings and did the transaction again which was successful.

So, my question is, we know that banks levy charges when you exceed your total limit granted by bank, but what happens when you are exceeding limit manually set by user and transaction is declined?

Are there any charges?

I remember that, it was ICICI, but usually that doesn't happen with me with my ICICI cards so it might be some bug on their part for that particular user.

Honestly I'm little stumped, as I was not actually overlimit but transaction was still declined. I hope I'm not charged for this or I might have to visit RBL bank 🤣

it was indeed ICICI for me as well 🙁 But this issue is only if we set desired credit limit less than maximum available limit. For other settings like per transaction limit for atm, online... this is not applicable.

I see, but with RBL zomato card there is no option to set limits individually, it has just two bars for one "limit" and other "cash".

So I'm left little confused, does that count as total user limit? I surely hope not 🤣

I'm facing similar situation with zomato edition classic. Whenever I try paying using NFC (Tap & Pay) it's throwing "transaction limit exceeded" error. But I have enough limit left.

Don't know what's happening.

You have set limit in zomato app, which is monthly total limit and not per transaction limit.

I had that error recently when I was our eating. I realised that and increased this limit and then swiped.

See usually this is per transaction limit in other credit card apps, hence the confusion.

Same thing happened with my icici cc don't worry they won't charge

That's what I am saying, NFC payment is getting declined by stating limit exceeded.
I see, so you are saying you have not reduced your total limit setting but still your NFC transaction is getting rejected due to overlimit?

If I may? NFC by default has limit of 5k, even in some cards lower than that transaction limit. In some cases it also has number of transactions per day limit.

Did your transaction exceed that?

By the way, this is applicable to all cards with NFC, you can't change it, its a security feature.

I'm not even near to 5K cap, num of transactions / day cap etc. Even ₹150 is getting rejected stating Limit exceeded. That's the issue.
