I have AU Zenith Credit Card which I got as one of my first credit cards in Dec 2022.
Being a CC noob that time, I used it in the first year extensively (~10 lakhs spend)
Since I met renewal fee waiver criteria, I kept it for next year.
However, after devaluations and having other better cards (e.g. DCB LTF), I stopped using it this year and did not meet the spend criteria (~3 lakhs out of 5 lakhs).
I had a call with Customer care, they said there is a 50% chance that management might approve renewal fee waiver.
I want to understand what is the possibility that AU Bank will waive off the renewal fee? Anyone has similar experience?
And if not, Can I ask to close the card after renewal charges are posted to my statement? Will they close it without paying fee?
Or it is better to close the card now itself?
**I am aware that once AU closes a customer credit card account, they don't issue a card again. Which is fine with me as this card isn't that great and I don't see going to AU Bank for any banking relationship in future.
