Hi, I hold a Punjab National Bank savings account since 2016, my parents opened it for me when I was a minor. Turning 18, I did re-kyc recently and my account variant was upgraded from a basic jan dhan yojana (PMJDY BSBDA) account to a general savings fund account. However, I'm being charged 17.70 rupees every quarter for SMS charges and also the ATM/debit card charges.
I recently opened a Canara Aspire savings account which gives me zero sms charges and the ATM card is free (till I'm 28). I also hold a SBI Insta Plus savings account, Kotak811 zero balance savings account and a Slice SFB Digital savings account. I have zero charges on these accounts (blocked SBI VISA physical debit card) and so I have no reason to keep this PNB savings account which charges me 300-400 every year.
Has anybody closed their PNB bank account and what's the procedure? Do I need to submit a application or something, and what's the documents needed?
