Has anyone here used Whatsapp UPI for payments.. how is the experience..

Am a little surprised this is not widely used or talked about.. may be because of lack of awareness or bad experience..

I've had a good experience with it. Easy to pay contacts, scans QR codes from photos in the chat automatically and also you get offers from some online stores like Jiomart. But all of these are niche use cases and I use GPay / Paytm whenever I have to scan a physical QR code

I am also surprised that WhatsApp doesn't have any market share in UPI. WhatsApp analysed that people share gpay/paytm screenshots after payment, so why not integrate payment within WhatsApp but people are habituated with established players and not want to move to WhatsApp payment. Also the main focus of those apps are payment while for WhatsApp it's messaging. WhatsApp doesn't provide any incentive for payment while those apps offer vouchers or shi**y cashback atleast.

Yes, I have used when there was guaranteed cashback on first three transactions, Done 1-1 Rs, three txn and got 105 Rs. 45-45 each time then delinked the UPI and never used again 🤣

Also security is major issue people are considering. Don't know how but people are thinking there may be scam using whats up if we use UPI,

So, I am technical guy still don't know why I am also believing in scam and not using 🤣.

I prefer CRED, GPay currently, But installed all other UPI apps as well.

Looks like a concious choice by whatsapp. App is very focused on just p2p aspect of upi. There are no bill payment options. There is ability to pay using scan or upi id but in other apps these options are front and center while in whatsapp these are hidden behind 3 dot menu's payment tab. There is no option to pay via no without adding that number first. However, surprisingly it auto scans pictures sent and recieved for qr code and brings up payment option.

Using WhatsApp UPI for payments is convenient and secure. It's possible that awareness might be a factor in its adoption. Encouraging more users to explore this feature could lead to positive experiences.
