When is the Ideal time for Applying Amex Gold Charge Card as 2nd Amex Card? - Query & Discussion

I applied for Amex MRCC 10 days ago , got approved yesterday. I’m also interested in opting for Gold charge card to maximise the benefits.should I apply it within a week or should i wait for 2-3 months? in which scenario I have better chance of getting the gold card? I’m getting different advices on the internet.

My income 10 LPA, CIBIL - 780 . hold other bank cards for last 2 years.

Any suggestion would help me lot!

You can apply right now if you want to.
10L income is more than enough.
As you already got mrcc nothing else will be required such as no vkyc..
In rare cases they may require income doc..
Cibil hit may be there one more time

Applied gold card yesterday as you said.

No VKYC, document required . approved within 12 hours. gonna use mrcc and gold together to reap max benefits out of both.

I didn’t think they approve second card in such short span.

couldn’t have done without your advice, cheers man.

This was in around 2020, when amex called me, I had paid MRCC. They told me they are giving me amex gold charge card. I said I like my current MRCC card. They said you can keep MRCC card as "LTF" as complimentary if you take paid Gold charge card. I agreed.

Nice! Guess won't be getting anything like this with having a plat travel. Unless they call and ask to take a plat charge paid and convert plat travel to LTF. Or offer a gold card and do the above, which I doubt.

always ask. When in doubt, never think this or that won't happen. Ask. Very important. and make sure you ask with full confidence, if they say no, say you will close the card.

I am in CC things from past 8-9 yrs and one thing I have noticed is, if you don't ask, you will never get. My SBI card of 6 yrs old, it was a paid card. This year even though I spent more than the annual commitment for fee waiver, I emailed sbi asking for lifetime free card (my current card to be copverted from paid to LTF) and they actually did it, even though SBI never do.

Axis waived off fee, even though I didn't meet spent criteria.

Kotak made one of my cards LTF.

Amex waived off fees of gold charge.

I got IDFC wealth account even though I don't meet the official criteria.

So ya, ask dude. with confidence.

WHAT WAS THE LIMIT YOU GOT OF FIRST CARD AND THEN LIMIT OF SECOND CARD ?
