Why can't Rupay cards support Samsung Pay?

I'm probably late into the Rupay scene but I find it really odd that Rupay cards cannot be added to Samsung Pay. Because it really is a convenience for me since I have a Samsung Watch and I don't always take my phone with me when I go out.

I also find it odd that Google Pay isn't in the Wear OS either. Can't seem to find any apps out there that can support Rupay cards for NFC.

Rupay cards can be added to Samsung pay via upi option.

Unfortunately, It works only via UPI, not as Card for Tap and Pay.
I tired contacting Samsung Pay regarding this and no useful response received. I would be great to have RuPay cards working.
Also Banks like IDFC Visa don't support Samsung Pay. 🤐

This is support list from samsung website. So i don't think they support rupay. But I am pretty sure you can still add it through rupay cc UPI.

RuPay Card will soon support on Samungpay Pay for Tap & Pay. Work In Progress.

Diners club cards are powered by RuPay in India.

Once RuPay will go live, RuPay will allow Diners club credit cards for Tap & Pay on Samungpay Pay app.

Are you talking about Samsung Pass inside Sansung Wallet? Are you able to tap and Pay transactions using same card like Mastercard/Visa cards?

For 1st Question yes. For 2nd Not completed any tap and pay transaction on any network card.

Banks and issuers play a role in enabling digital wallets, and currently, Samsung Pay hasn’t fully integrated Rupay for tap-and-pay transactions.

RuPay will soon launch card HCE-NFC system.

Before the partnership, RuPay is currently enabling payment acquisition on POS machines via GPay and Samsung Pay.

While it has already been announced with GPay, it is still a work in progress with Samsung Pay.
