Will closing a card cause problems if I plan to apply for another card from the same bank in the future?

I have a HDFC Moneyback card with a meager 30k limit, got it through a pre-approved LTF offer but there was a hidden clause that I need to spend 30k-50k in 90 days then only it will become LTF. I wasn't aware of that or this forum back then and missed it. For 500rs + gst this is a pretty useless card, so was hoping to get an upgrade to Millennia or Regalia. But they won't be having any condition to make it LTF as it will be an upgrade from a paid card.

So I was thinking to close this one and apply fresh after some months. Will that work?
The main reason to get millennia or regalia is to buy vouchers from Smartbuy.

I don't mind getting Millennia as FYF either.

You can close the card and reapply after six months, if you have an account with HDFC, they will start offering you preapproved cards.
 
6 months have to be from previous application and not closure date. Apply millenia or regalia card to card for LTF

I haven't applied for a new card yet.
In the pre-approved section, it is still showing those usual 3 useless cards.
