Will I get 5% cashback if I pay for my scooter using my SBI Cashback Card via SB Collect?

I'm planning to buy a scooter, and the dealer has confirmed they accept credit card payments through the SB Collect website. The dealership is listed as a "private merchant" on the site.

My question is: Will I receive the 5% cashback offered by my SBI Cashback Card if I use it for this purchase via SB Collect? Has anyone else had experience using this method for large purchases and receiving the cashback? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

sir can you give me the detailed steps to find the mcc?
i did a small transaction but i don't know how to contact them to ask the mcc

anyways i tried to pay again and chose UPI option and then qr code
there the qr code was

upi://pay?pa=statebankcollect@sbi&pn=State Bank Collect&mc=9399&tr=DUN7525574&tn=BNTHAKURAUOSERVICELLP&am=1.0

does this mean the merchant has the MCC 9399?
will it be the same if i pay using card?
You have to use card, not UPI.

I'm assuming you made a small transaction using the SBI Cashback. Once the transaction is settled, contact SBI Card customer care and inquire about the MCC for that particular transaction.

Once you have the MCC, compare it with the inclusions mentioned in the SBI Cashback...

It doesn't matter if it's a private institution or home tuition. What matters is the MCC code, and be aware that there will be MDR charges associated with it. You need to negotiate for it, or else 2% will be deducted.

Get confirmation for the MCC as well, since there have been many cases where it was incorrectly tagged as fuel, which will bombard you with charges. Forget about the rewards.

Once those two things are clear and the MCC falls within the terms and conditions, you're good to go (make sure the MCC matches the inclusions).

they didn't mention any additional charges for using card on sb collect website

and its listed under "private merchant" not "private institution"

still is there any way to know the MCC without making transaction first? will the dealer be able to help in this situation?

If you trust them, then why are you asking here?

And no, you have to make a small transaction and then figure out the mcc & match it with the inclusions.

This is the basics of every transaction.

so do you think i should make a small transaction and then ask sbi for the mcc?

could the mcc be different for smaller transaction and bigger transaction?

- If it matches, you will get 5%.
- If it doesn't match, you will not receive 5%.

Simple as that.

Man, is this your first time using a credit card? 😂

I don't remember the sequence of IVR numbers lol, you have to try it out yourself. Put some little efforts.

If you're unable to reach customer care using the IVR menu, then you can do one of these these:

- Use Twitter & send them DM to call you back
Or
- Raise a request through the SBI app
Or
- Send them an email

All of them works.

This is my first time trying to call sbi customer care 😭

Anyways I figured it out after couple of tries

They told me to call after the transaction has been settled

But are you sure it won't be the same as the qr code MCC?

Yes, I had already said the same thing in my previous answers. It will take 2-3 days to settle that.

But are you sure it won't be the same as the qr code MCC?
I can't be sure of anything, because what I think may not be same as what bank think.

I trust numbers provided by the bank, not from the URL.

Let's say you trust that number and went ahead with the transaction. For your information, that merchant code is of government services. You won't receive cashback on that.

The End.

nah mate i wouldn't have gone ahead with the mcc, ik that mcc is a part of the exclusions
anyways they are charging around ~2.4% on the whole transaction if paid via credit card, so it doesn't make sense to pay via any credit card (which i have) in that case

Oh, now they introduced MDR charges, I thought you took care of it. Pay it using upi/NetBanking.

You can mark this answer :backhand-index-pointing-down:out as this is what I mentioned in the first post regarding MDR charges. Since they have brought it up now. It doesn't worth it anymore.
