I've seen these queries on the forum if they can convert their FD card to unsecured card in SBI.
So I'm holding one 12 year old FD card in SBI and wanted to convert it to unsecured card. Don't want to park my funds in a FD unnecessarily because I have other unsecured cards now.
I raised a request and customer care came up with a reply that they can't do it. I escalated it to the nodal officer and received a call today from them asking me if I wanted to close my credit card (lol). I replied no, I just want to de-link my FD and she said they can't do that. The only way to de-link my FD is by closing the credit card. I wasn't prepared for this as I want to keep the card for instant discount sales. I have SBI cashback but that doesn't work for 10% instant discount sales.
So, here's the answer, if anyone is wondering if they can convert their secured card to an unsecured one : NO.
