Yes all know about that. They give us Pain by blocking every new merchant to avoid RP. We also give Extreme Pain to them by closing their Accounts.

2.5% rewards is not sustainable for them. Kinda expected. Their credit cards give way less than 2.5%

Greetings from IDFC FIRST Bank.

We would like to inform you that the Terms and Conditions of the FIRST Rewards Savings Account Loyalty Program have been updated.

As part of these changes, debit card transactions on the following additional Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) will no longer be eligible for Reward Points:

All Unrecognized Debit Card MCC E.g. 5413
Service stations (with or without ancillary services) 5541
Automated fuel dispensers 5542

Fuel dealers — fuel oil, wood, coal, and liquefied petroleum 5983

All earned Reward Points will reflect and be ready for redemption post 30 working days from the date of transaction.

Please note that the above changes will come into effect from 10th October 2025.

Currently points are availabe for redemption post 14 days. Now its 30 days. ANd maybe points will reflect on the portal only after 30 days. Currently we see them credited instantly.

Yes applicable for points earned from 10th Oct.

Now it's following hdfc policy of @D₹V (Delay ₹eward Value) so we can't track which app gives us rps.

Suppose if you found any new merchant other than their exempted categories means may be one or two transactions they give reward points after that as per their "New Business Rule" immediately blocking the new merchant to restrict and avoid the reward points.

In case you escaped from their new rule means you reward portal will be blocked and Account will be Freeze. and one more from Oct 10th onwards reward points earned will reflect after 30 days only. If you earned Huge reward points 20000 pts or 30000 pts in single transaction from new merchant / like earlier for cc bill pay means it will be very very risky.

So Closing their accounts is the only way and live peacefully.

Forget and move on! Life is Shorter! Nothing is Permanent!
