Opinion on buying a car from neighbouring State/UT to save Road Tax

C

Crores of taxes?

What.
Yeah, if you are holding 5-10+ vehicles. Then obviously, the total crosses over crores saved in taxes.

Also, I have seen this a few times when crossing tolls. A super expensive car would be brought up to the toll by a truck in a container, then the vehicle would be offloaded, they would cross the toll, then return back, and then load it into the container and taken back... I guess that's how they are having their workaround for this law.

+ it is not just cars, for super luxury, it is caravans, rolls royce super luxury buses, and things like that.

. However, this is the upper limit, each state can reduce their own. For example, in Karnataka, the period is 30 days, so in 30 days the vehicle needs to cross a state border.

(1) When a motor vehicle registered in one State has been kept in another State, for a period exceeding twelve months, the owner of the vehicle shall, within such period and in such form containing such particulars as may be prescribed by the Central Government, apply to the registering authority, within whose jurisdiction the vehicle then is, for the assignment of a new registration mark and shall present the certificate of registration to that registering authority
