Today, my father received a call from PNB saying that my grandfather had an account with PNB and since the past few months, the account has had a negative balance.
So my father went to the bank to check, and turns out my grandpa did have an account and something like 1600 Rs in that, but over time, because of not maintaining MAB, he got fined, and now the balance is negative.
To my father's knowledge, there is no FD or anything in that account & my grandfather don't have any other bank account.
But I still want to look for an account, so is there a way to do so?
For context, my grandpa passed away ~8-9 years ago, and we didn't find any passbook or anything from any bank. My grandpa never owned a mobile, and the landline we used to have back then is disconnected & number got lost in time.
we also never received any letter from any bank, but 10 years ago we did change our house, but the guy we sold it to denied receiving it any letter which was meant for us.
Also, what should we do about this PNB account? my dad said just let it be, because there is no money, but I just want to confirm if leaving it is okay or can it hurt us in long term, can bank take some legal action?
