General PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK not giving 10% reward point for all payments
So, I was using my cousin's "Rupay PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK Credit Card" for Electricity Bill payment where the merchant names are as follows (we used Credit Card Payment not the Upi option)
  1. Merchant Name - "PhonePe Utility IN" - This gave 10% rewards
  2. Merchant Name - "UTILITY PP FSS IN" - This gave only 1% rewards 😥
Now I am trying to make Insurance Bill Payment again I see 2 merchant names as below
  1. Merchant Name - "PhonePe Insurance"
  2. Merchant Name - "INSURANCE PP FSS IN"
Now I am confused which merchant to use inorder to avail the 10% rewards. Please help if anyone have clear information or where to we get clarity. WE tried calling SBI Customer Care and they are Clueless.. Tried to reach Phonepe Customer care but there is no option to talk to a human 😭

Note: We were trying to use credit card option always as the convenience fee/charges are higher than CC payment option and we are also not sure if we got with Upi opt payment option we will get 10% rewards for sure.

First of all, all these merchant names are eligible for the 10% cashback –
  • “PhonePe Utility IN”
  • “UTILITY PP FSS IN”
  • “PhonePe Insurance”
  • “INSURANCE PP FSS IN”
Secondly, 10% cashback is also applicable on UPI transactions, and all merchant names are eligible via UPI as well.

Now, the important part –

The 10% cashback is calculated monthly, not based on your billing cycle date.


For example – if you’ve already received the 10% cashback (up to ₹2,000) on 2nd October and your bill is generated on 10th October
then you cannot get another 10% cashback in October — you might only get 1% cashback.

You’ll next be eligible for the 10% cashback in November.

My suggestion is to change your bill generation date to match the calendar month, so this issue won’t happen again.

Pay your bills using Card's UPI pin.
