I can write a long essay about it, but I will keep it brief. I renewed my Accor Plus membership in April 2025 with Accor points. I got 20 status nights and silver status. My friends who got the membership and paid with cash got 30 nights and gold status. I didn't realize the significance of this difference at the time.
I have a Singapore trip next week and more trips later in the year. With the Accor China hype, I thought it might be worth getting to Platinum. But the problem is I had 20 (+3 stay nights), so even Accor China got me to 53 nights and left me short of 7 nights for Platinum. On this forum, I read about the fast-track CTM offer. I registered for it, and it got approved in a few hours. I booked a local Ibis for a mattress run to get an additional 15 fast-track nights, getting me over the line. I bought Accor China and a mattress run yesterday, hoping to go from 23 to 53 to 68 nights.
However, as the midnight clock struck for 1st Oct, Accor changed terms and got everybody to 30 status nights/ Gold status by default. I was aware of the changes but didn't realize it would work the way it worked.
So I got 10 additional nights due to that. As of 12.01 am, it said 63 nights but gold status. Around 9 am the same day, I got a notification that my Platinum status upgrade is effective and valid until 31/12/2026. Terrific surprise.
And this happened without the fast-track CTM nights. So basically, my mattress run (3 hours and 4000rs) was kind of wasted effort. But I am super happy with the Plat Status now. My original Singapore booking with breakfast was priced at INR 140k. I canceled, and it booked a lower room without breakfast for INR 109k since Plat members get an upgrade and complimentary breakfast anyway. Hoping to extract more value in future travels.
