Hey folks,

I bought S24U during sale on Amazon and I know that I wouldnt have received any bank offers on cashback card but I assumed that I would atleast receive the base 5% cashback on it, but statement has been generated and I havent received any cashback for the same, is there anything I can do or were my expectations wrong?

hey they just replied and said mcc is 5262, from a cursory search, whole nothing came up, some posts on reddit said that this is not valid for cashback.

is there anything I can do?
What merchant name came when otp sms came and what merchant actually showing in card statement. Asking just for information.

Check your statement carefully. Maybe you are missing something because it came for me as my products also had no bank offer and order was for family.
hey I received around 1.5k in cashback, but 5% of 72k itself is around 3.6k, so it's pretty obvious they haven't given me cashback, if the cashback was around 4-4.5k I wouldn't have bothered

Sorry but you won't be getting it now. Keep bugging them but SBI won't budge. Blame Amazon for not having correct MCC.

Hey folks, an update on this, after going through back and forth for an entire month with these idiots, they are saying that I first did a transaction worth 76K, for which they credited cashback internally apparently (mind you, no such credit is reflected on my statement), and after that I did a 72k transaction for which I did not receive cashback because according to them, I had already breached the 5k limit and hence 72k transaction wasnt valid, mind you the previous transaction was refunded and there was no cashback credited to my account for this,

Is Ombudsman my only way forward for this?

Please provide the transaction date.

First transaction 76k * 5%, ₹3800.
Balance cashback eligible on further spends ₹5000 - 3800, ₹1200.
72k * 5%, ₹3600 but capped at ₹1200.

If the refund is not completed by the time second transaction is initiated, the system has calculated cashback eligibility and posted ₹1200 (excluding other transactions). Is this the case?

hey yes, both transactions were just hours apart so definitely refund for the first one wasn't initiated before the 2nd happened. This is pretty much the scenario you are describing.

Sorry, but that is how SBI Cashback works. The first transaction is settled before making the second transaction?
Any transaction if it is settled, the cashback amount eligible will be considered towards ₹5000 and subsequent transaction will only be eligible for the balance cashback.

it's not mentioned in their tncs though I just checked, it just says cashback will be calculated post statement generation minus returns/refunds and I'm not sure of the settlement thing but both transactions were done within an hour of each other, I did the first transaction, canceled it and then did the 2nd.

I have read the terms and conditions, or some document. It is mentioned there and that's not very customer friendly policy.
If the transaction is cancelled before settlement is done, then you're eligible for the cashback.

afaik, settlement takes hours right? unless it's instaneous (and I'm pretty sure it's not since it showed under process for days on the app), I should get the cashback.

Also if possible, can you link the relevant tnc where you read that? I'm drafting my complaint on ombudsman and will be quoting sections from the tnc in it

Yes, settlement will take two days I guess.
