Introduction

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is set to launch RuPay credit cards with all major banks in the coming years. RuPay currently offers three main credit card variants:

1. RuPay Classic (Basic/Standard)
2. RuPay Platinum (Premium) // includes SwiggyOne, Spa, Gift Cards, and more.
3. RuPay Select (Super Premium)

There are also two sub-types under RuPay Select:

1. RuPay Select
2. RuPay Select Wellness (includes Gym, Spa, Golf programs, and more).

• International Acceptance: Supported by Discover Financial Services, Diners Club International, Pulse, and JCB.

This means that if your Visa credit card is life time free then the same variant RuPay credit card will also be life time free or if you change your existing life time free Visa card to RuPay then your new RuPay variant card comes by default life time free.

2nd thing, Any offers given by banks are also applicable on your RuPay credit cards too like Axis, HDFC, ICICI, SBI CARD, BOB etc 10% discount offers on Amazon and Flipkart or other e-commerce websites (Ofcourse sometimes newly launch RuPay card is not eligible for e-commerce discount offers but that doesn't mean banks discrimination between Visa/mastercard vs RuPay. It simply meaning your card is new, bank systems are not updated, wait for few months or complaint to banks they will soon fix it. In fact, newly launch Yes bank Visa & RuPay both credit cards and few months back one person told Axis Magnus Visa Credit card is not working on e-com discount offers). So i hope it's clear. I am definitely going to get BOB RuPay Credit Card. I have applied for a regular Credit Card through Offline Channel. Once the application is processed, if I am approved, but did not get RuPay, I will get it. Sure!!
I will have at least one RuPay Credit Card under ALL Circumstances. Using that, I will pay almost all Utility Bills

This means that if your Visa credit card is life time free then the same variant RuPay credit card will also be life time free or if you change your existing life time free Visa card to RuPay then your new RuPay variant card comes by default life time free.

2nd thing, Any offers given by banks are also applicable on your RuPay credit cards too like Axis, HDFC, ICICI, SBI CARD, BOB etc 10% discount offers on Amazon and Flipkart or other e-commerce websites (Ofcourse sometimes newly launch RuPay card is not eligible for e-commerce discount offers but that doesn't mean banks discrimination between Visa/mastercard vs RuPay. It simply meaning your card is new, bank systems are not updated, wait for few months or complaint to banks they will soon fix it. In fact, newly launch Yes bank Visa & RuPay both credit cards and few months back one person told Axis Magnus Visa Credit card is not working on e-com discount offers). So i hope it's clear. For Credit card, MDR fees are approx same but banks pay very less network switching fees to RuPay.
Visa/Mastercard also charge different types of fees from banks like Visa/Mastercard network joining fees, annual/quarterly fees, BIN number issuing fees, maintenance fees and Visa/Mastercard also impose penatly to banks, if banks provide poor services.

Before RuPay, Visa/Mastercard also charged higher MDR fees 2% to 3% on debit cards. After RuPay card launch. Visa/Mastercard also reduce MDR fees and network switching fees from banks.

In future, we expect Visa/MasterCard to waive off other types of fees from banks. If Visa/Mastercard gets a tough competition from RuPay (Indirectly it will also save Indian forex reserve).

Ok then your branch is not offering LTF cards but you can apply for RuPay Platinum credit card because no annual and joining fee (if card is used once in a quarter), 300+ reward points on 1st usage. No minimum usages condition for annual and joining fee wavier.
