Would chargeback work for damaged product delivery?

TF Buzz
Hello, as the title says, I received damaged medicines from a famous online medicine delivery service. The same was immediately notified to them via chat support who told the resolution would be provided in 24 hours.

A few hours back they replied stating their partners had packaged the medicines properly and they basically denied taking responsibility for the said medicines and refused to replace or refund the amount for damaged pills. The medicine is quite expensive.

The payment was done through SBI Cashback Card. Would applying for chargeback under the category 'Goods/Services not matching with ordered' (or any other category) help in any way? Anything else that can be done apart from filing in consumer forum website?

Its highly unlikely you can do anything if you dont have the unboxing video....

some of medicine delivery services use local shops which may do such kind of things and then deny so that they don't have to return their money..

Another way is to take it to twitter and hope that it blows up so much that their TW support team helps you get the money back..

regarding chargeback, try contact sbi cc team first and ask their T&C before you raise dispute

Thanks for replying, silly question, why'd you suggest reading their T&C before raising a dispute? There's no harm in raising it either way right? (irrespective of the outcome?)

And yeah I don't have the unboxing video 🙁 I've previously ordered from them quite a few times and things have been great so far except this one time.

I am not sure how chargeback works for sbi. about an year ago, I think I read somewhere that you are allowed only some "x" amount of chargebacks after which they have blocked cards of some users too.. and if the dispute is not correct then they might also charge some fees (I am not quite sure but remember reading it somewhere)

so better to confirm before taking this step

What's the name of this website? I'll stay away from them.

Understood. I'll drop a message to SBI Card folks on Twitter and wait for their reply.

Tata 1mg… I genuinely think their service is decent but extremely surprised by this one incident. Unbelievable that they straight up declined to take responsibility for it.

Please always record video of unboxing or open in front of the delivery executive if possible and immediately raise the case.
Anyways thanks for highlighting.

I usually do this when I am ordering from a new website. I've ordered from these folks quite a few times before and it has always been great. I don't record all of my amazon deliveries either… but yeah a lesson learnt I guess. But, just curious, shouldn't raising a dispute be effective in this considered a service was supposed to be rendered and the merchant did not fulfil the service by delivering damaged goods? 🤔

For me, if any delivery is above 5k or is a bulk order of more than 5 items, I make a video irrespective of what the product(s) is/are....

It depends on the words they use, if they say that packaging was damaged and/or 1/2 pills were out of the packaging, they can still be consumed which will make them think that the item was delivered and can be used by the receiver..

Not the same if it was some liquid (syrup/injection fluid) which was pouring out.... as that will make it un-usable

It all depends on how they build the case..

Winning a chargeback claim in India is no easy task. None of the banks support the customer. I only have one successful chargeback till date, thanks to American Express. Haven't seen anyone apart from Amex taking decisions in favour of customer.

Crazy. I don't know why I assumed most of these decisions would be in favour of customers… surprised to read how it's the opposite. I guess the gov. consumer portal is the only last resort for customers then…

I used to believe the same. Learned it the hard way. Also, one of the major reason why I'll atleast hold one Amex card irrespective of the annual fee. Much better to give up on an opportunity to earn more points than giving up on peace of mind.
