See if you can spend 1L for 3 times a year (3 months out of 12 months)- If yes, take Magnus
Assumptions:
1. All your transactions are in multiples of Rs 200
2. You are spending 1L for each month
3. Only 1x rewards are used for calculation (we are calculating the base figure)
So for each of the three months, you will get 6k normal points and 25k accelerated rewards for a total of 31k points. Therefore for 3 months you will earn 93k points.
Hypothetically, even if you spend them for Rs 0.2 per ER for gift cards, still you will get gift cards worth Rs 18600. (Never ever redeem for gift cards- This is just for calculation)
Each point can be given a nominal value of Rs 0.7 (You can use them for stays at ITC for a rough value of 0.8 per ER when you convert it to ITC points. Also you can even get values for more than Rs 5 per point- For example, if you use it for an ANA biz class redemption)
Even with a nominal value of 0.7 you will come ahead. This is all with the base case. Now think about the 3x/5x/10x points you will get via Axis Gyft edge. In that case, you will even come far ahead.
So if your spends for 3 months in a year go beyond 1L per month, take it. After a year, if you feel it is not worth it, close it. As long as they provide you accelerated rewards of 25k per month, it is worth to take it.
But never go on a shopping spree to meet 1L spends a month. Use it responsibly.
