Agreed. My personal view - If you don't need anything and nothing is planned, let it go. First we spend to complete the milestone, thinking vouchers will anyways get used, but when we have the vouchers, we usually end up spending because we have them, otherwise we may have not. So that becomes a forced spend. I know this will be an unpopular view, but I felt I should say it. Also, you 'may' end up accumulating different vouchers because for example if you get an amazon voucher this month, next month if you have to spend on Amazon you will spend from the voucher and so will be that much short on the the milestone spend and again buy some vouchers, so it becomes a never ending cycle. Sorry for the unsolicited gyan 😛 .
If you do have spare money lying idle, and you have to spend on the card to complete the milestone, I would second @saurabhduasd and say that invest in NPS tier 1. Atleast that ways it is not forced spending.
Apologies once again, I know this is not you or most other people looking to complete milestones like to hear.
Absolutely. But the damn thing is so tempting. The other POV can be that by spending 20K more, he'll get 26200 edge rewards (1200 for 20K + 25000). So effectively if converted to Airmiles, one will get 20K+ back.Don't try to manufacture spends when there are none 😂 Axis has played this quite smartly and making people overspend.
It is a trap. It is a trap. It is a trap. There's no end to this airmiles game.Absolutely. But the damn thing is so tempting. The other POV can be that by spending 20K more, he'll get 26200 edge rewards (1200 for 20K + 25000). So effectively if converted to Airmiles, one will get 20K+ back.

Yes, totally with youIt is a trap. It is a trap. It is a trap. There's no end to this airmiles game.
I will disagree with this. The monthly milestone benefit is very good and makes the card special. The problem is with us. If there's a luxury car and it is very expensive, we cannot blame the car for providing the luxury saying why does that car exist because some people will buy the car beyond their means. It remains a good car, just that the consumers have to know if it is for them or not. If I have diabetes I cannot blame the sweet shop why they are displaying sweets which I cannot have. I have to control my greed and understand it is for others. Maybe, when my sugar is in control, once in a while, I can also have. Magnus is similar. Even if someone can spend 1 lakh normally for just 3-4 months in a year, even they can derive good value from the card. Especially people who have normal spends of 70-80k per month will normally have 1 lakh in some months in a year. Need not worry. For those whose spends are much less, say less than 50-60k a month, maybe they should opt for other cards, the doctor did not prescribe that you must have Magnus. One must understand one's spends while applying for cards.Sometimes I feel at least in this respect other cards are much better because they don't force you to overspend. The milestones are yearly based and not monthly.
Ya. Think your earlier Gyan was bang on. One would get opportunities to reach the milestone rather than indulging in over spending.Sometimes I feel at least in this respect other cards are much better because they don't force you to overspend. The milestones are yearly based and not monthly.
Agreed, but every day in this forum, people are asking the same question: 'Where should I spend? How should I spend? How to spend 1L?' Don't you see the pattern? It's all greed, and people are trying to get on the hype train.I will disagree with this. The monthly milestone benefit is very good and makes the card special. The problem is with us. Absolutely. I have been seeing the patter. I usually try not to respond or react to those threads, as I know everyone is intelligent and understand their finances and need no gyan. But couldn't stop myself today 😛 . Sorry @great for hijacking and diverting the thread. However, in my heart of hearts, I feel this community, as a finance community, should play a larger and more responsible role as well. Not give lectures or anything, but there should be discussions and tips and tricks around how not to fall into bad financial behaviour/habits. There are so many tips and tricks out here, this would also be useful for some people I am sure.Agreed, but every day in this forum, people are asking the same question: 'Where should I spend?
