I got a call from a 10 digit phone number yesterday saying he is calling from ICICI bank & to my surprise he even told my last 4digits of CC number & continued that an OTP will be sent to my mobile to avail 2x rewards point. While on call I went to the app & blocked my card immediately. When I said I will confirm the same from the official ICICI bank handle in twitter whether what U are saying is true will consider such offer later, the phone call was disconnected instantly. ICICI customer care called me & said new card will be issued soon after I elaborated the incident stated above.

Now I have a few questions

1. I have never used the card outside amazon or online purchases. How did my number leak?

2. My card was more than 1.5 years old was slowly getting limit increase offers time to time. Will this change of card reset my account to brand new & I will have to wait 6months for the limit increase again?

Do let me know did they charge anything for replacement!.

I visited branch one lady inside asking my phone number as well as account number.

I instantly resisted to provide any info to her & talked to clerk.

While coming out I saw both of them sharing some information over personal phone.

May be some 3rd party agents get customer information out of bank to scam in name of offers, LTF, etc.

I may get a LTF or Emerald upgrade offer call soon!! 🤣 🤣 🤞🤞

Not sure if people are getting paranoid quickly but I believe it's a SOP when they try to verify if you are the same person placing the request. I frequently experienced this with Axis. Sometimes they ask for the last 4 digits of the blocked card or previously held card.

The customer care said no additional charges will be levied for the replacement. But the physical card will be delivered after 7 working day. The number of spam calls are going way out of hand. Sad to see sensitive info is being leaked so easily by people within the system.

Ya that is true that you need to give some details to verify whether you are the legit person or not. But the scary part is you shared your last 4 digit with a real customer care executive but suddenly after a month you start getting calls from weird numbers claiming to be customer care executives & they know your last 4 digit. The coincidence of such a scenario is mind boggling if not leaked internally.

In my case it was definitely a branch staff that I also know in person and the visit was in person as well. I don't entertain phone calls for any financial purposes. If I don't pick the calls I just call the customer service number immediately to find out if anything is wrong or to know the context of the call.

ICICI is not safe at all. One of my cc applications was rejected, after which I've received calls twice from random numbers (ICICI reps number appears as ICICI on truecaller). They have my application number, know the status (rejected) and ask me for documents saying they will get it approved.

I have been receiving similar calls, as this is an old type of scam, so I directly ask them did they get a new database, this week I have got 5calls and 3 on the same day only.
