Axis Magnus Spend Query

Hi,

I am new to this website, so if this post is in the wrong forum, apologize. Please redirect me and I would be happy to post there.

I have recently received a Burgandary Axis Magus credit card. I have to make airline ticket spends of ~7 Lakhs for 2 business class tickets (each cost 3.5 Lakhs). Given that I will use Travel Edge to book my tickets (60 points per 200 up to 2 Lakhs), can please someone confirm that the below calculation is correct?

If I buy one ticket each month:
a) For spending up to 2Lakhs - 60,000 ER
b) For the remaining 1.5 Lakhs - 26,250 ER
c) For crossing the 1 Lakh threshold - 25,000 ER
Total points accumulated if one ticket is bought this month: 111,250 ER
Total points accumulated if one ticket is bought next month: 111,250*2 = 222,500 ER

If I buy two tickets in one month:
a) For spending up to 2Lakhs - 60,000 ER
b) For the remaining 5 Lakhs - 87,500 ER
c) For crossing the 1 Lakh threshold - 25,000 ER
Total points accumulated if one ticket is both tickets bought this month: 172,500 ER

Thanks in advance for your support.

Best
Chirag

Solution
The milestone benefit of receiving 25,000 ER for spending 1 Lakh in a month is discontinued (starting 1st September 2023) for both Magnus and Burgundy Magnus customers.

So, new reward structure relevant to you with respect to TravelEdge portal is:
60 ER per INR 200 till 2 Lakhs of spends and 35 ER per INR 200 for spends above 2 Lakh.

Hence new effective calculation would be for you:
Scenario 1: Both tickets purchased in same month
a) For spending up to 2Lakhs - 60,000 ER
b) For the remaining 5 Lakhs - 87,500 ER
Total points accumulated if one ticket is both tickets bought this month: 147,500 ER

Scenario 2: Tickets purchased in consecutive months
a) For spending up to 2Lakhs - 60,000 ER
b) For the remaining 1.5 Lakhs - 26,250 ER
Total...

So, Scenario 2 will fetch you 25,000 extra ERs (worth INR 5000 atleast) at risk of price of tickets going up. Also, do remember Post completion of calendar month, the accelerated EDGE Reward Points will be credited in 45 days from the evaluation month end date.

Unless, you are getting these tickets reimbursed doesn't make sense to risk it booking the next month.

Thank you very much for such a detailed response. I wasn't aware that the 1 lakh milestone was removed for Burgandary as well. Just out of curiosity, are the 35 ER points after 2 Lakhs applicable on travel edge or in general? Also, my idea would be to transfer these points into airline miles in a 5:4 ratio once they are credited. Is that process easy?

General Reward Structure is:
12 ER per INR 200 till 1.5 Lakhs of spends and 35 ER per INR 200 for spends above 1.5 Lakh. (Excluding few MCC related to govt payments where you get no reward points and few MCC there is reward capping)

For TravelEdge it is:
60 ER per INR 200 till 2 Lakhs of spends and 35 ER per INR 200 for spends above 2 Lakh.

Coming to airmiles transfer the timeline differs based on which partner you are transferring to refer to this link: How long does it take to transfer Axis Edge Reward Points? – PointsDojo for approximate timelines.
