Manual CC repayment before Auto debit

Had a query regarding auto debit.
Can auto debit be used as a backup ?

For example, if my bill generation is on 12th, and due date is 30th.
I setup auto debit for the 30th, but pay manually on 12th itself, post statement generation, will my auto debit also occur on 30th?

Will this result in double payment?
Or are the systems smart enough to skip the auto debit?

You will be charged, 500+ GST in Kotak, I had confirmed this query way before from the executive. Though I have no personal experience for the same.

However, I too feel there should be such option, but sadly bank refused not to do this and didn't consider this feedback.😐

I was asked not to make payment after the generation of statment.

For HDFC I am using auto debit as backup only. You'll receive sms that the amount will be deducted 1-2 days before due date from account but if you've already paid via other means and it has been settled - the auto debit will skip the debit.
