HDFC CC Bill auto-payment—Less amounts deducted by the bank

I’m an HDFC CC holder, whose CC payment is set to auto-pay for the “Full Amount Due” from an HDFC Savings Account that I have. This is my method of HDFC CC payment for many years now, and frankly, it has always been very, very smooth.

A few days back, my latest CC bill was auto-paid on the due date—which it was supposed to—with the auto-pay deduction [= debit from my SB A/c] being two Rupees less it was supposed to be. Yes, only ₹ 2 less had been auto-deducted, with the billing amount being ₹ 1.44 L +.

Enough money was already there in this SB A/c, so the lessened deduction wasn’t due to another ₹ 2 not being there in the given A/c. Not at all. Also, there is no lien or anything similar that was/is blocking the transfer of the full amount to (auto-) pay the CC bill.

This is for Infinia, but funnily, two such exact incidents happened a few months earlier as well, twice, for my Tata Neu Infinity CC. On the first of those two occasions, ₹ 75 was deducted less [than the full bill amount], and for the second one, ~₹ 1,800 less was deducted [for a CC bill of ~ ₹ 15,000], even though—again—there was enough in my SB A/c for the entire deduction to be done.

I’m curious…is/are there anyone in this forum with similar experiences concerning their HDFC CC auto-payments?

check your unbilled transactions if you received 2 Rs credit as refund or something. I guess you might have saved your card somewhere and made a refundable payment of Rs 2.

Auto Pay only deducts amount which is due. If the bill is partially paid by whatsoever means, the autopay amount will get adjusted.

If this is not the case then immediately report and raise a complain as this small amount would lead to hefty interest charges on your current due amount as the bank would consider your previous bill to be partially paid.

Thank you. This is actually quite a plausible explanation, except that it doesn’t apply in this case [or in the previous ones]. There has been no credit to my CC account—for any reason whatsoever—from my preceding month’s auto-pay to this month’s. So the current bill wasn’t partially paid by any means.

I’ve already raised this as a complaint to the bank. Looking forward to their reply. However, when I had e-mailed them last October for the same reason, I had received quite a vague reply.

If they give vague reply, complain to RBI Ombudsman and ask for 1 lakh compensation 😂
