Easily check ‘MCC’ using IDFC app

If you have an IDFC card, you can check mcc via app without having to call anyone.
You can also do small transaction to know the code if the CC rep is unable to provide that info.
Useful for cards that give mcc specific discounts (Like HSBC cashback gives 10% on grocery/food mcc).

Via idfc app, go to the transaction>download receipt>review description for mcc

Mcc code is for merchant. If you have idfc card, you may try a small transaction first on idfc card. Then check mcc code as mentioned. If mcc code is as per your need, you may do transaction with same merchant with (hopefully) same mcc on hdfc swiggy card (or any card).

i thought idfc app started doing cc aggregation just like some fntk apps track all bnk acnts in 1 place

Sorry fo cnfsion, by manual method I meant the steps mentioned below for any cc which was originally proposed by aditya in this thread

Mcc code is for merchant.

Step 1 = If you have idfc card, you may try a small transaction first on idfc card.

Step 2 = Then check mcc code as mentioned.

Step 3 = If mcc code is as per your need, you may do transaction with same merchant with (hopefully) same mcc on hdfc swiggy card (or any card).

This only works for UPI merchants and afaik the app's only source is the data inside the qr itself, why should i install just another app when i already have a qr scanner in my phone

Can we use idfc app if we only have IDFC credit card and no saving accounts?

HDFC doesn't allow using app unless we have savings account.

Thinking to get a IDFC card just for this purpose.
