Nope, upgrade to metal is not ltf for anyone as far as I know and by other's comment in the forum. When you click on get new card and fill your detail, you will see annual fees there. HDFC upgrades are given on FYF basis so no joining fees.

It would be FYF. If they are hell bent on phasing out DCB Plastic, then and only then you would be upgraded to DCB Metal LTF.

When they discontinued Diners Club Miles, they initially offered me Paid Millennia to my LTF DCM, but I declined the upgrade. Few months later, I was forcefully upgraded to Millennia LTF.

Mine is FYF, so i ain't taking

You can continue below to check whether yours is FYF or LTF

But mostly it'll be FYF

A key difference between the plastic and metal DCBs are the monthly/quarterly milestone benefits. For plastic, you spend 80k in a calendar month and get 1k worth of vouchers (I take a 500 BMS + 2x250 OLA vouchers). For metal, you get 10k reward points on spends of 4L in a calendar quarter. My spending patterns are not high enough to suit the metal card at all. Plus mine is paid; so it is easier for me to meet the annual fee waiver criteria of 5L for plastic v/s 8L for metal.
