Flipkart mobile exchange rules - reg

KGSIPO

TF Premier
Planning to buy Samsung S23 FE in exchange of S21 FE. The exahnge offer showing a price of 9500 for S21 FE. I heard that many times that Flipkart offer lesser price during pickup of the old phone. I am planning to buy the new phone using HDFC credit card and will take FE23 FE only the flipkart offer the price of 9500 for old phone during exchange. If the Flipkart offer lesser price, can i cancel the order and get back the money.

Flipkart doesn't offer a lower price if your phone is in good condition. Also, the Flipkart executive does not determine the price reduction. Instead, they use an app called Yantra, which is a diagnostic tool for evaluating second-hand devices. This app runs automatic checks on your phone and informs the executive whether everything is working fine or not.

If there is an issue, the app will automatically tells the executive and it reduces the price.

Let's say your phone got some issues, then there will be some reductions in your case and if you're not satisfied with the price, you can simply pay the difference for your old phone and keep your S23 FE.

I’ve exchanged many phones with Flipkart, so I’m quite familiar with the entire process, including what they use and how they use them.

Yes reject the offer - then u have two choices :
1. Cancel order
2. Pay difference amount to get the phone

If you really want to cancel the order, here's what you should do:

When the delivery executive comes to your house, tell him to check your old phone first. If he asks why then tell him that if there are any issues with my old phone, then I will cancel the whole order.

You might be wondering why? Because Flipkart offers an open-box delivery, which requires an OTP for delivery confirmation. Once you provide the OTP to the delivery executive, you won’t be able to return the device.

So, coming back to your question: ask him to check your old phone first. If everything is fine, proceed as normal. If there are any problems, do not accept the order and cancel it from your side.

Thanks again. I can safely do cash on delivery but i will miss the credit card offer of Rs.1500. Recently, there was open box delivery for my LG AC and the delivery person showed everything. When i was ready to share OTP, he told me not needed and it is not asking.

For some reason, same case happened with me when I got the carrier AC.

But for smartphones, they will always ask.

I wanna buy a phone from Flipkart and exchange old phone. Can you confirm whether Brand box is required for exchanging old phone because Flipkart has mentioned it in it's Exchange scheme as per screenshot. I don't have the brand box or any accessories. Please confirm whether it's mandatory or not ?

No, brand box is not mandatory. As for accessories, they usually ask for the charger and cable. If you have those, you can give them.

They don’t verify the serial number on the charger, so it won’t matter if you provide a different one. However, it should at least be similar. For example, it would obviously look odd if you give a white charger with a black phone.

Or a oppo/vivo branding charger for a samsung phone. Hope you get what I'm trying to convey.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Can you please confirm about the screenshot which says brand box. Won't the guy ask for box? Plus No accessories are mentioned in ss. So just wondering whether box and accessories are mandatory to get the full exchange value or it depends on case to case basis ?

Box does not have any value in the Yantraa app used by Flipkart executives. The screenshot is a generic one, meant for everyone. When they tick stuff in the app, at the end, they can ask if you have anything related to the phone.

In that case, the charger and cable will suffice. They cannot reject your exchange just because you don't have the box.

When the executive comes to your home, he will ask you to turn on Wi-Fi and download the Yantraa app APK.

He doesn't know anything about what's shown on your Flipkart app.

sir do you have any idea what exactly the app checks for?
will it reduce the exchange value if it finds that the bootloader is unlocked or the phone is rooted?

Nope, there are no issues if the phone is rooted. It should be in working condition. It's an automated app that checks screen colors (RGB), camera, bluetooth, touch sensor, other sensors, etc.

I've exchanged a rooted phone with no issues whatsoever.

Thanku for the in depth details

My experience with Flipkart exchange has been terrible for all the 2-3 times I did. Though the value was never reduced, but it took me multiple attempts to get the exchange done. (This loop hole is fixed now, but earlier, you could place multiple orders with same device exchange). I used to order multiple orders with Home address, office address, wife office etc with 1 day gap deliveries and get the exchange attempted if it was denied earlier. Got picked up mostly from office address

My first exchange in 2015-16 was seamless. The person who came for exchange got drooled by flawless iphone. Gave me cash (500 more) and I handed over to him.

However, later i started using cashify and similar apps; they do lower the price but it's upon your negotiation skills. If you are confident, you'll get the worth dont budge. I got iphone 8 exchanged few years back which had battery issue. They reduced price by 1500 stating that new battery price. I clearly told, if i am not getting benefit of new battery why will I pay 100% of it. I'll rather get it replaced and sell 2K higher. Eventually only 500 was reduced, as everything else was flawless

Now, I just go to physical shops which deal in used mobiles as they are the eventual takers in many case (especially if the mobile has got second hand market eg iphone, samsungs). Do get expected price; higher than FK, cashify etc. In physical shops, Box and Bill help, as it makes easier for them to sell further as genuine mobile and not stolen. (Sold 2 iphone SEs and got much better price than online exchange)

Have sold twice via OLX aswell to direct individual, got much better price. (Keep realistic price, don't negotiate over chats)
Mostly my sell has been iphone, so its been easy. I generally upgrade/change phone for all family members in 2 years (max 3); so almost every year there's 1 or 2 sells/exchange happening
