Online Gold Jewellery purchase using Amex pt Travel

Hi Folks,

I bought gold jewellery of 5 lakhs on Bhimagold.com . They were offering Zero % Making charge for some of the jewellery. And they were charging 3-4% less in compare to current market price so it’s good deal . On payment they were not showing Amex option but I tried my luck and went ahead with my new Amex Pt Travel card for which there were no transactions done till now . After few decline , as they flagged the big transaction suspicious , on call they enabled after few verification . To my pleasant surprise, transaction was successful. I read here that they don’t allow gold transaction in initial 6 months but it went through successfully for me .
So my question to you cc geeks is that will I get rewards for this transaction or not ? I did so that I complete milestone benefits . Some of you have mentioned that gold transaction are not eligible for rewards, is it true ?

If the transaction went through and is showing in your app, you should get the reward points. I too bought gold worth 1 lakh using Plat Travel, offline within 3 months of getting the card and got the points.

Which thread says man, that we don't get rewards for gold payment on amex platinum travel card, please share so that we can correct that info. I paid 2.2L gold payment after 50 days of getting play travel and all good with rewards points and milestone points

You should be getting MR points for the transaction as even I had purchased jewelleries few months back I received it only thing is merchant will charge extra 3% to 4%.

Gold per gram price itself higher in Tanishaq compared to local famous jewellers like GRT ..

If we purchase Gift card/voucher of Malabar etc available on amex multiplier .
Can i use this vouchers for paying gold schemes or directly only online purchase ?What about offline stores for gold ornaments or coins ?
Any idea ?

1. This is a Malabar Jewellery Gift Voucher (GV)/Gift Card (GC) and it would be accepted at Malabar Gold & Diamonds all outlets in India as well as Malabar Gold & Diamonds online Shopping portal.

2. The GV/GC can be redeemed against purchases of Gold, Diamond, Platinum, Uncut Diamond, Silver Jewellery excluding Gold Coin/Bar.
