Suggest me a joint account for pre approved offers and rewards

2025

TF Legend
I am looking for a joint bank account with my wife. I already have accounts with SBI, HDFC, RBL, UCO, AU, Kotak, and ICICI. She has with PNB, Indian, and Kotak.

Now we want to open one/two joint account with following objectives:
1. Good mobile banking / UPI enabled in both mobile numbers.
2. Good pre approved offers of Loans and Credit Cards.
3. Issue two debit card preferably like EDC/Sig+/Millennia (for cc payment rewards) without requirement of maintaining double MAB.

Based on experiences shared in this community and my objectives, I have shortlisted a few
1. HDFC
2. RBL
3. IDFC
4. You can suggest others as well.

Please guide me based on your own experience to find best possible bank to open one/two joint account to fulfill the above mentioned objectives.

Thanks.

N.B. Though a few related threads are there but they are not exactly aligned with my stated objectives hence, creating a new. Sorry if it looks like redundant to you.

Axis, hdfc

Instead of opening joint account, you can open individual account and keep her account as primary id. Many give features/offer only to primary id. But to track expenses, joint account is the only option. 🤣

Why join why not enroll her in family banking!
I don't know much abt family banking. Only thing I know is ICICI and UCO may allow me to open zero balance account for her under family banking. But their account doesn't have much benefit. ICICI provide zero rewards on their debit card. Will check with rm.
HDFC, if you maintain >1L Everything is Free
IDFC, No charges for debit card, amb starts from 10K
I don't intend to save 1L at 3% interest. That is the reason I only have 10K Amb account not upgraded to saving max account. I occasionally I get free upgrade offer to their classic and another one (I forgot the name) banking program but I doubt they might downgrade me or charges me because of non maintenance of balance in future. Their debit cards rewards (400x2) = 800 every month attract me, I already have plat dc.

Tracking expanses is not an issue. Offers and benefits should be more than the cost of maintaining another account. One joint account is also a need to consolidate funds during emergency so that she can have access to those funds easily. Also in future I wish to use this account for joint demat holdings.
----------
RBL - is for their EDC/ Sig+ benifits.
IDFC - based on feedback.
HDFC - Millennia benifits
ICICI/ AU is also on list

For her to get offers should I need to put her name as 1st holder? Or joint account not at all get any offers like CC and Loan?

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

U can consider indusind privilege joint account
Mab 5k
U both can get delight debit card which offer 5% cashback on dining, ott, fuel

In that case go to hdfc xpressways and add your wife to existing account. Yes its possible in hdfc to add second holder without visiting the branch.

Thanks. A few members have shared their bad experiences with Indusind in other threads. Will check the ac variant.

I did not know this. Last time I checked it offered me to open a new account. But dont know how to add member. I think even then possibly they will do vKyc for signature update. will definitely check. thank u.
IMO ICICI and Kotak are good in giving pre approved offers
Ok. ICICI is also on list only because of their generous offers, free debit card, and zero balance account under family banking. We both have opened kotak 811Super will contue that.

Checked today itself. Found the option. Process seems to be easier than anticipated. But one criteria is that the person I want to add should not be the nominee of this account. Hence, possibly, I must have to update the nominee first. Also, I am in doubt regarding her VKyc. Will that be required? Process doesn't mention that. How to issue / apply a new debit card for her? and what will happen with my linked Credit cards and ongoing loans (in my name only). Are they going to be affected by this process? What about UPI facility for her. I can see signature update option is also there.

Could you please elaborate the process in detail. So that can help everyone who are in need of such facility.

How about this method to get additional cards and added benifits. My hdfc account is not salary account hence I have no issue adding her in this account if it provides me additional DC and make her eligible for her to get LTF cards that I already have like infinity and millennia.

Anyone who have gone through the process of adding a person in a single account in HDFC may also shed some light on this. Thanks.

For debit card issuance you need to visit the bank only. Your linked cc/dc /loan will be yours only. You both will have separate Custid , debit cards, and upi . vkyc i'm not sure. Better to visit the branch, if you are not sure about it.

Today visited HDFC home branch.
They asked me to add the new member through online (they provided me a link through sms). They assured that if I face any problem then they will definitely do it through branch tomorrow.

VKYC compulsory if the new member do not have any hdfc account.

I was trying but finding it difficult to update the communication address (other than aadhar).
Will visit the branch 2morrow again.

Today visited again my home hdfc branch. Added her (as joint holder) with my account. The process is quite easy and simple. Applied for a millennia DC as well. I already have plat dc.

Also opened another joint account today in RBL and applied for two EDC. I already have a Sig+ dc.

Both account opening process was simple, quick, and straightforward. Officials were helpful and took extra efforts for us.

Thank u all for your suggestions and guidance.

How does that work ?
I've currently holding HDFC Basic Savings account, I want to add my father as joint holder.

Mostly to make UPI WORKS in both mobile individually.

-Do they charge MAB same as single account holder ?
-If i also issue Millennia Debit card for him..will cost charges for both of us individually?

You can add him through expressway. best option.

-MAB same as its a single account.
-Two cards two charges two benefits.
but if its savings max sb account charges on both dc waived off right?
Please confirm! Joint account has all variants similar to savings or joint is a special category it self in which dc charges are applicable no matter what!

Don't know. Someone said in some thread that charges of only primary account holders will be waived off. I don't have saving max ac.
