Exploring MCC for Telecom| RBL EDC

TF Select
I’ve explored multiple ways to identify the Merchant Category Code (MCC) for telecom-related payments, but so far, without much success. Here’s a summary of what I’ve tried:

  1. MCC for Loading Airtel Bank Account using Debit Card:
    • MCC: 6540
  2. MCC for Paying Bills via Freecharge App:
    • MCC: 4900 (Utility)
  3. MCC for Paying Bills via Axis Bank (Freecharge):
    • MCC: 6300
  4. Easemydeal:
    • Unfortunately, this platform doesn’t support debit card payments, so I couldn’t test here.
  5. Investkraft App:
    • Verified MCC: 4814 (Telecom), confirmed through RBL customer care.
    • However, a few days ago, they halted BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System) services. I hope they fix this soon.

Issue with Investkraft

After successfully making a payment through Investkraft, the app unexpectedly closed. While the amount was deducted from my account, the payment wasn’t received to cc. I contacted their customer care, who mentioned they currently do not provide this service, even though the payment went through. I have raised a complaint with RBL for a refund and am awaiting resolution.

I’ve created this thread to help others who might be trying to identify and get telecom-related MCC codes or similar solutions. Let’s collaborate and share insights to help each other.

BHARTI AIRTEL LTD
BHARTI AIRTEL LTD GURGAON IN
SBIUNIPAYDBCard
Only these 3 comes written in Otp messages of Rbl Edc transactions of cc bill payments or utility bills too through Airtel & Unipay since many months.
Don't know about exact MCC but I got cashback all the time with them.
@2025 @Saidanyan @kashishj add other if you think any one can help here

NOTE: *This is only for RBL Enterprise debit card Holders*

Hi I have finnally got Telecom Mcc code at the time of credit card bill payment in Phone Pay.
But there is a catch. And I don't have the solution till now. Different mcc code is coming each time.
I just got Telecom Mcc twice. Now they are giving different merchant name.
Initially I thought in lower value transaction, they are giving telecom mcc just like recharge.
But after 2 times,I am not getting the same mcc.
So hereby suggesting all to experiment.
After all it's a system. There must be a way to get this telecom mcc 4814

Telecom MCC 4814 in PhonePe must be tied to some merchant NAME that shows on the payment gateway page. What is that merchant name?
