GUIDE into Buying your Health Insurance - Discussion & Guide

Can you guys clarify this? Since the premium varies based on the city tier, should we enter the PIN code of our residence or the city where we usually seek medical treatment? I'm looking for a plan for my mother, and entering our hometown's PIN code (Tier 3) significantly lowers the premium. However, most of our medical needs are catered to in Tier 1 city. Will opting for a Tier 3 PIN code cause any issues when claiming treatment in a Tier 1 city?

Choose insurance company which do not have co-payment for tier cities. Usually most company do not charge if u buy premium for tier 3 n get treated in tier 1. Premium is calculated as per aadhar address. Clarify wid ur company or read product document

Okay! For HDFC Ergo, there is a difference of almost 7k between hometown premium and tier 1 city premium. No copayment!

Thanks for the clarification!
For most of d companies tier system is only for calculation of premium. However Few companies charge extra if u take treatment in higher tier hospitals. This can be easily confirmed by calling customer care or sending them mail. It is also mentioned in policy wordings. As far as i know Hdfc tata icici n few mor dont charge extra if u take treatment in higher tier.

As far as I know, every insurance company including HDFC will charge you extra or reimburse only a part of claim if you undergo treatment in a higher tiered city. Don't try to game them, they know business better than us.
Confirm from Customer care in writing before buying a plan.

They will ask for KYC, and you have to provide aadhaar card, so the pin code mentioned on KYC documents will be your actual pin code for the policy.
Whenever you will change your address on KYC documents, you have to inform them. Because they will ask for KYC documents for claim settlement.

As far as I know.

You can ask them on their customer support number for better clarification

Yeah! So that solves the confusion, if they take aadhar based address for KYC which in my case is hometown address. And since HDFC, doesn’t have any tier based pricing, I can use that in Delhi as well(tier 1 city nearest to hometown) where most of our medical needs are met ?
