If you have some travel planned transfer for Marriott Bonvey else convert to some vouchers.

they offer on multiple cards...based on relationship and spends
yes i agree.
i will reframe my query.
i have come across multiple posts regarding retention offers for Platinum Travel. but as far as Gold charge is concerned - "i was not aware that there are retention offers on gold charge as well ".
so just wanted to know if retention offers on gold charge are as common as on platinum travel.

Dear Friends,

I just called Amex to request a reversal of the annual fees on my Gold Charge Card and I was given the following options:
  1. 50% waiver of the fees, i.e. reversal of Rs. 2655
  2. Spend 1L in 90 days.
On option 2, I tried to bargain on the amount. When I didn't succeed on that tried to bargain on the duration. That didn't work either. Finally I asked do I have to pay the fees if I cancel the card? The answer was if I please the cancellation request before the due date the complete charges will be reversed and card will be cancelled.

I didn't opt for anything at the moment. I'll have to call back before the due date and let them know which option I have decided to go with.

Do you think I can get a better offer if I say that I am going with cancellation? I have MRCC too - spend target met.

In my case with plat travel, they said if you are not able to complete 1.5L spends in 90 days, you can call for an extension. They would be able to provide an extension of upto 20 days.
Also if you opt for spend based waiver, you have an option to switch to half fee offer in case you think you won't be able to meet the spends. You just have to call before 90 days are over and tell them you want to switch to half fees waiver.
Before proceeding, confirm these things with CC as they will note down what all offers you were offered. So in case you want to change something later on, they'll refer to those notes and make changes.

Do the maths
Spend 6 x 1000 x 12 months on Amex Reward multiplier website
So 72000 spend gets 1600 x 12=19200 points, worth 9600 @50p
9600-2655=6945, which is 9.64% return on 72000 spend.

There are cards giving higher returns, but do you have those???

Was given the same two options. Opted for 2nd since had some spends lined up. At max you can opt for 1st option if you feel spends won’t cross the threshold still worth it to hold the card.

Option 1 if you want to keep the card and have some plans for near or future redemption

Option 2 if you have spends lined up and can meet the threshold (best part is reward multiplier can be used to its full potential here)

Option 3 only if you have simply don’t have any use of this card/have a better card to divert spends to (keep in mind new issuances are on hold and might take a while if you make up your mind to get one again)
