Paytm CC bill payment convenience fee increased from flat 32 to 0.5% + GST for Visa cards

From Aug 2024, Paytm started charging flat convenience fee of Rs 32 on using VISA debit card to pay CC bill.

Today when I tried to pay, it shows convenience fee of 0.5% + GST for using VISA DC to pay CC bill.

Mastercard charges are even higher at 1% + GST

Rupay is free as of now

Nobody pays through Paytm these days. So, no impact.

Most banking apps/sites, and platforms like Tata Neu, Amazon Pay and Cred are charging no convenience fees. High time people forget about Paytm/Phonepe/Google Pay for bill payments.

For the past 2-3 weeks, I have been receiving countless messages asking where to use the HDFC Platinum debit card ?

So look, guys I have one good news and one bad news.

The bad news is that the HDFC Platinum debit card is almost useless now.

Actually, there are still some places where you can use it to get 1% rewards cashback.

For example, if you have an Airtel Payments Bank account, you can load money using the HDFC Platinum Visa Variant Debit Card and earn 1% cashback...

You can also set HDFC bill pay autopay, if your monthly bill is 16k to 20k then best to use HDFC bill pay autopay feature and get 2.5% upto 400 per month on HDFC millennia Debit Card (best value if cc bill amount 16k).

My experience of getting 1% cashback on HDFC Platinum debit card.

Dec 23 - Opened Savings Max Account and got 'Visa Platinum Debit Card'. Started getting 1% cashback (upto Rs 750) on making payment of ICICI credit card through Bill Pay on HDFC platform. In around 6 months time it stopped automatically.

Nov 24 - Changed the account type to Speciale Gold and also converted to Classic Banking (on request). Placed order for new Platinum Debit Card with hope to get word Classic mentioned it. But again got the same variant 'Visa Platinum Debit Card'. Anyways, again started getting...
