[Help Needed] Amex Platinum Charge Renewal – Retention Offer Advice?

My Amex Platinum Charge is up for renewal on 21st June 2025, and I could use some advice from those who’ve recently been through the retention process.

Here’s my current situation:

• Approx. ₹35L spend so far this membership year
• Also holding an Emeralde Private with ₹60L limit, so the no limit feature of Plat doesn’t add much value for me
• I do have a few international trips planned this year, so benefits like hotel status memberships and global lounges will be useful

Would really appreciate insights on the following:

1. Is Amex giving out retention offers on Plat Charge these days? If yes, what kind of offers are being seen?
2. When is the ideal time to speak to an Amex rep about retention — a month before renewal, or closer to the actual date?
3. What kind of offers should I expect (MR points, Taj vouchers, fee waivers, etc.)? What’s a reasonable counter-offer or negotiation point to aim for?

I can give some based on Other AMEX cards...

2. During renewal period (a few days before u would expect the fee on your card account to a few day after those fee) // do not make any purchase during this time.

Good to know. Heard about 60L limit on ICICI credit card for the first time (non charge).

More than 20L spends will get you 35k worth of vouchers (Taj, Luxe, Postcard hotels) on renewal fees payment. For 35L you can call and negotiate for more. You can call anytime, but better to call before fees is charged

Overall renewal benefits are not that great on Plat Charge and many people end up cancelling the card

See my straight and honest 2 cents basis 3 years membership with Platinum Charge :
- Service degraded, they take 8-9 minutes these days to get to an agent
- Hotel memberships offered are basic, you can stack a couple Accor memberships and get platinum which is more value for money
- Marriott gold elite etc are good to hear but for international properties they’re worthless.
- Travel benefits not so much, I suggest getting the times black if you are based out of NCR for better engagement and offers.

What I did this year :
Just cancelled the card today because no retention was offered ( I didn’t even spend on the card this year ) .

My plans :
- Stacking memberships and reaching Accor platinum
- Targeting axis burgundy private coz I’ll exhaust transfer limit of 30k on Atlas
- Secured hsbc premier as a backup for Accor.

In my straight opinion aligning to Accor makes more sense given the fixed point value of ~1.8 rupees per point.
