Hi i have this doubt so may be people here can help with
I want to know when someone asks for an cc upgrade let say from bob easy to bob premier
Or amex smart earn to amex mrcc or amazon pay to icici mmt signatures have they got an increased credit limit? Or its the same limit with different card
Also in other case when some one applies for a second card while already holding a card from same bank do they get an combined limit or separate limit or increased limit
Let me know your experiences with any bank as it can vary a lot from bank to bank

Solution
SBI provides separate limits for each individual card. In my case, the BPCL Octane card has a limit of 2.5L, while the SBI Cashback card has only 20k 🤣.

ICICI has a shared limit system, although they report the limits separately in CIBIL. However, very few people have managed to obtain separate limits (1 in 100).

With Amex, if you apply for cards separately, you get separate limits. But if you hold a companion card, the limits are shared.

HDFC sometimes provides LE and upgrades together, but it's rare, and the limit remains the same for the 2nd card.

Axis offers the same limit for all their cards.

Indusind allows the limit to be split between two cards. Additionally, I have heard that when they upgrade your card, they also provide...

For SBI it depends upon Application - When I applied for Prime 2-3 years back, i was given additional limit, when Applied for my brother, they called and asked for limit separation (total limit was same, we have to decide in which card how much limit we want)

For BOB, i received some 82k limit when received Premier card but upgraded to eterna within a month and received 2 lakh limit

Same Applies to Axis, I had Axis LIC card with lower limit but when applied to magnus, they gave 3 Lakh limit (on c2c of other card)

For RBL, my brother recently received upgrade offer - they first increased limit and then upgraded card

SBI is offering me both Prime and Elite cards, but there is no limit enhancement offer. Additionally, the option to transfer the limit has been discontinued since last month, so we can't transfer it at the moment.

Your limit with Axis increased because you applied through C2C. If you had upgraded from your existing card, you would have the same limit.

I have also seen in the forum that IDFC increases the limit with an upgrade, specifically from the select to wealth card.

To summarize, experiences can differ over time, and I am sharing the experiences and knowledge I have gained from this forum thus far.

I still feel for SBI, if you apply offline, you will get separate limit.

I told you already I have separate limits for both my cards, it seems you missed that part.

Edit: You mean if I apply for Prime? Of course, I will get separate limit.
What I mean is, if you apply online or using your existing card basis, your total limit will be bifurcated and if you apply offline (may be person at mall), you will get all new limit. Thats what i faced at that time

If you already hold an existing SBI card and apply for another card online, you will be given a separate limit. It won't be shared or bifurcated.

Similarly, if you apply for a new card offline, you will also receive a separate limit.

Now, regarding upgrades, if it shows on your app, your existing card will be replaced, but you will have the same limit.

I am not trying to prove you wrong or prove myself right. As I mentioned earlier, experiences vary, and this is the current scenario. SBI has already stopped transferring limits to other cards. Perhaps in the future, they might reintroduce the feature.

For amex when you apply for second card did you get and enhanced limit?

Great answer. But these two things are incorrect (atleast with my usecase and some members who also mentioned on this forum).

Axis offers the same limit for all their cards.
Axis offers separate limits for their cards (I think, segregation between Co branded and core cards as I don't know one who owns more than 1 core cards). But even with my experience, Axis FK has a separate Limit and Axis Neo has a separate Limit.

Not always, when I card was upgraded (very recently), a CC LE was not done, I am not manually requesting for an LE.

In the world of banking, anything is possible, and experiences can vary from person to person. What I shared were the experiences of other members and my own.

Regarding Axis Bank, they are gradually moving towards sharing the limit or assigning the same limit for newly approved cards. Even if a new card is approved with a higher limit, the limit is shared among all the cards.

Now, as for IndusInd Bank, I never said it happens all the time. 😂 I mentioned that a few members have experienced this.
