SBI virtual RuPay debit card work everywhere because no extra charges on RuPay.

You can also pay Amex and SCB bank CC bill on RuPay variant.
I was referring to advance tax payment and not the CC bills, so that is not excluded for SBI VDC? As is the case with typical credit cards which mostly do not accrue any reward points for government or tax payments. IF we can get RPs for SBI VDC should we be concerned about the multiple Payment Gateway options?

I could see some threads quoting that PGs having different MCC for each bank and is recognised differently. So just asking for clarity! Since YE/Holi offer which is active for this card - they mention select category only gets accelerated rewards (guess tax is not part of it). Am I right?

Use hdfc payment gateway and pay with sbi vdc at 0 charges, I got reward points for advanced tax payment with sbi vdc.
You can also pay via sbi gateway>upi>QR code, then pay with icici rupay cc (0 charges as well) to get cc RP and pay the cc bill with sbi vdc.
