Gov has also reduced its budget by 78% in its interim budget. 👀Obviously as this was a promotional offer intended to increase the number of Rupay_platinum debit cards.
Once they have reached the required amount of users, they ended the offer with the end of financial year.
Most people may close but some may retain the card.

Axis Ace post devaluation (convenience fee on bill payments) is more or less useless except it’s unlimited 1.5% cashback which probably might be the only reason for someone to hold it even now if they don’t have more rewarding cards in their portfolio. Even if used to fullest extent (10,000/- Utility every month) post annual fees comes to paltry 3.5%. Apay route despite its tediousness has been more resilient since all these years as compared to any Cashback card launched. I agree the more the options one has access to the better but from Utility perspective Ace is more or less dead. It all boils down to one’s comfort zone, spends level and existing portfolio. That's why I keep telling people not to rush into closing their Axis Aces and Airtels. RuPay Platinum was bound to end sooner or later. The APay voucher route (via SBI Cashback CC or HDFC SmartBuy + Gyftr) is going to get rockier too.
