So, basically my opinion here is that instead of just adding more barrier of entry, we should rather focus on making the punishment part more efficient. i.e. an example, corruption on the ground level (yk, under the table stuff).

Now you came to the main point..
That is why I kept saying India is different..
Corruption being an integral part of society.. not just airport staff..

I have asked you question about how many people respect rules.. General public ( majority) are themselves have corrupted ideas .. Society has to change ..
then we can see all the convenience you are talking about ..

airports now a days are too crowded, only with paxs. if we start allowing accompanying persons, it'll just be impossible. just imagine airports at 2x, 3x, 4x footfall you normally see. if that happens, ill stop going to airports and just travel by train.

the logistics & manpower itself would be a nightmare, within the airport & outside too.

This is only going to get worse and worse in the decades to come in India .. purely unimaginable .. just 10% to 15% of population travelling by air itself crashes everything in the system ..

I am happy that people are restricted from entering the airport past the current public zone. Two reasons:
1. Security
2. Crowd management
Security is always on another level in India compared to abroad, and for good reason, so I've got nothing to complain about that. But I don't like the inability to enter the airports just by scanning our ID/credentials. It is there only in a handful of Airports in India.

Just to be clear you want more people inside the airports because??
1. You feel it's empty and could use more people inside?
2. You would rather have people play drums and dance inside ?
3. You feel everyone is entitled to AC environment?
4. You actually like the state of railway stations?
5. You need someone to carry your bags to the check in desk?
N

Jokes aside I think you just want to give your family a hug before security rather than an hour earlier at the gate because I don't see any other convenience here and instead see a bunch of security stuff to deal with, keep in mind our neighbours 🙂

Lastly I believe there is a platform ticket concept at railway stations as well for more or less crowd and security issue (delhi atleast

@navam haha yeah. 2 main pain points.

1. The people accompanying me have to see off at the gate instead of security.
2. If there is a luggag allowance e imbalance, it's difficult to get out of the airport and give stuff back to the family to take home.

@CARDBITRAGE Really, which Airports allow entry just by scanning ID and not checking tix?

This post deserves to be an open general discussion.
Most of us Indians, when at public places, don't have civic sense and responsibility. That's one of the major reasons they don't allow other than the pax themselves beyond the drop-off point. Yeah, bigger lunatics could be found at US airports, but we could give tough competition when it comes to "quantity".

It's easier to control a few lunatics now and then, than to control bunch of them on a daily basis. Needless to say most of the US airports are pretty crowded already.

The other major reason is that our country has suffered enough consistent t3rr0r attacks in last 2 decades, that the apprehension of such things is pretty high. Name some cities in question where a blast or some conspiracy has not happened.

Neither we are a developed country where if some security lapse happens, then it would be labelled just as a "rare lapse in security", nor we are underdeveloped country where it would be labelled as "that's pretty normal there". We have a history and our international image is always at stakes.

Pretty much the reasons security staffs want the take-offs and landings to be safe and secure, than to allow passengers have a quality see off.
Agree that the security is a bit too much, could be relaxed, but a lot of other things are at stake. And the reasons are logical and factual.
The restriction could have been relaxed but there were incidents that made the possibility bleak. May happen in future.

I just landed at Vietnam. Let me go to my Airbnb then will create a thread and be more active. I genuinely want to have a healthy discussion so we can all share different point of views and get a better understanding.
