I currently hold the SBI Cashback Credit Card with a ₹90,000 limit, which I primarily use for electricity bills (around ₹1 lakh annually) and online shopping. I’ve completed my first year, met the spending requirement, and successfully got the annual fee reversed.
In the second year (valid till 26th September), I’ve already completed about 50% of the required spend, so I’m confident the annual fee will be waived again.
I’m now considering reapplying for the SBI PhonePe Credit Card, which was earlier rejected. The main reason is the 10% cashback on electricity and utility bills, where my annual spend easily crosses ₹1 lakh.
The ideal scenario for me would be to:
Get the SBI Cashback Card’s annual fee waived for two consecutive years
Then request SBI to convert it to Lifetime Free (LTF)
And also obtain the paid SBI PhonePe Credit Card for utility payments
What do you think about this approach?
