20% Bonus on Reward Transfer - SBI Air India Signature Card

SBI has just sent out a mail announcing 20% bonus on transferring reward points to Air India Flying Returns points for its SBI Air India Signature card.

This offer is valid until 14th November.

Process:

- call up the SBI credit card customer care and ask them to initiate transfer of the points to you linked flying returns account
- a minimum of 10,000 reward points need to be transferred (IIRC) and it can only be done in multiples of 5000 reward points
- transfer typically takes 2-3 working days
- this is something they do periodically. Last time they announced such a bonus was in May, further extended to June.
- when I tried it during the last round, while the transfer happened within 2-3 days, bonus was only credited after the offer period ended. So in this case it could be after 14th November.

Typical conversion ratio of Air India FR points is around 60-70 paise per point, depending on the route and the dates you seek to travel. This bonus bumps up that conversion ratio significantly.

You don't have to call the customer care to convert/transfer the points. It can be done via the website or the app also.

Through SBI Card Website:

• Login to sbicard.com
• Click on ‘Redeem Now’ under Rewards section.
• Browse through the Rewards Catalogue and search for Air India
• Choose Air India Miles 5K(Only for platinum variant)/10K/15K option and then click on ‘Add to Cart’
• ‘Select Add to cart’ & ‘Checkout’ to click on ‘Place Order’

Through SBI Card Mobile App:

• Login into the SBI Card Mobile App
• Go to ‘More’ at the bottom menu, then select ‘Rewards’
• Choose ‘Redeem’ & search for Air India Flying Returns from the Rewards Catalogue
• Select ‘Add to Cart’ & ‘Checkout’ to Place Order

AirIndia customer care seems clueless. What a shit-show AirIndia is.

They did not credit the bonus to me automatically either.

Contacting customer care over the phone doesn't help. They do not know anything about the rewards programme.

I wrote to the customer care team instead on the 10th. They replied on the 13th and finally credited the bonus on the 16th December. After crediting the bonus they didn't even inform me. It was just done. Pathetic indeed.


It wasn't like this in June when bonus was immediately credited as per the date declared by them.
