2L Insurance Premium – Need advice on best card

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming insurance premium of around ₹2,00,000 and want to use it smartly with the right credit card.

From what I know, cards like HDFC Infinia/Diners, Axis Magnus/Reserve, and Amex Platinum/Gold Charge are often considered for big-ticket spends. But I’ve also read that insurance has become a tricky category due to exclusions or reduced reward rates after recent devaluations.

The cards currently available in my family (my brother has these):

  • Amex Gold, Amex Rewards, Amex SmartEarn
  • Axis Privilege, Axis Ace, Axis Club Vistara, Axis Indian Oil
  • HDFC Biz Grow, HDFC Regalia Gold
  • Standard Chartered Ultimate
  • IndusInd Pinnacle
  • ICICI Amazon Pay
  • Kotak Rewards, Kotak Zen
  • Tata Neu Plus
  • SBI SimplyClick, SBI Cashback
  • RBL Shoprite
  • IDFC Select

My questions:

  1. Among these cards, does any one still give full reward benefit on insurance spends?
  2. If not, which card would you seniors suggest as a better alternative for a one-time ₹2L premium payment (whether for rewards, milestones, or annual fee waivers)?
  3. Any caps, hidden rules, or exclusions I should be aware of before swiping?

Since ₹2L is a substantial spend, I want to be sure it counts — either towards rewards or milestones. Would really appreciate guidance from the experienced members and seniors who’ve already optimised such spends. 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Since ₹2L is a substantial spend, I want to be sure it counts either towards rewards or at least milestones. Would love to hear from the seniors and experienced members who’ve already handled such spends. 🙏

Thanks in advance!
