Hi Guys,

Today, I randomly came across an article, and you won’t believe it—I was shocked! 😲 A person holding 1,638 credit cards?

He’s truly an inspiration for our community! 🤣 🤣 🤣 I have no idea how he managed to get such a huge number, but hats off to him for his love of credit cards. At first, I couldn’t believe it, but after a bit of research, I found out it’s true! He even holds a Guinness World Record for the largest collection of valid credit cards, achieved in Hyderabad on April 30, 2021.

How many active credit cards do you have? 🤔 Share your number here Let’s see who has the most in our community!

One bank can give 2-3 cards per customer, to get 1600+ cards he needs to have relation with how many financial institutes? In addition, what about his CIBIL score? Will CIBIL score will be reduced?

something not right, even if we include all banks in the country + the various cards they offer, the number would be less than 500! Most banks have limits on the cards one customer can have!
either he has included Add on Cards, he would have got from various Relatives accounts + he could have got cards from some international locations, who allow foreigners to hold cards!

As for me, have over 25 cards

1600+ plus active cards not possible...
Some details are deliberately hidden or missing..

there are not enough cc launched by banks in India....i think his total number of cards include cc+dc+pp (i can see pp in the photo)...plus forex cards and other cards if any...plus include add on cards on his primary cards as well...

He holds another record for coins as well and worked in other countries. Even if he has worked in 10 countries and all 10 countries allow him to take credit cards, it is still an impossible task.

How is it possible?
It is including his family members and add on cards..
Itne toh bank hi nhi hain..

I guess he included block and replace cards also. The article didn't mention any active cards.

I've similar doubts. I see some debit cards in the picture, and having 1,600+ credit cards in India seems impossible unless he also holds international cards.

The main question here is: Does Guinness World Records not verify these details before awarding a world record?

The article mentions "Valid cards"—but what does that mean? Does it refer to active cards, including add-ons, or only active credit cards in his name?
I'm very confused and couldn't find any source explaining how he managed to get that many cards and where they came from.

The article doesn't mention any thing. So for now all are assumptions.

There are not enough financial institutions to get these many individual cards,

These cards spread over,

1. Closed cards
2. Add-On card for every family member (On average 4-6 per Individual CC)
3. Replaced Cards
4. Priority Passes
5. Renewed Cards (Average 3-4 renewals for each card, this would mean they have CC for 12-20 years now)
6. Might include a few Debit Card (this would be cheating but who is counting)

This would bring the number of unique individual cards to about 40-70, which is not impossible given I have 37 unique individual credit cards.

You are very knowledgeable. You got it absolutely right.
I really liked your reply. 🙂

Apart from above, I think, Upgraded card, expired cards reissued, ad on card reissue/renewed/upgraded/replaced, ad on debit cards for joint accounts these may also be in this list.
And no idea why he has PoS paper roll in picture 🤣

Yeah you are absolutely right.

I think he is a businessman, and he has a POS machine (that's why the paper roll), so he might have 10-20 unique cards for his business too. That would explain 70+ CCs because businesses can get CCs more easily than individuals.
