After Mastercard, Now RuPay Credit Card hike MDR for Utility category:

RuPay Credit Card Interchange Circular

Kindly take note of RuPay Credit Card Interchange for Classic, Platinum and Select variants on domestic transactions, as mentioned below, applicable from 1st May 2025.

The revised interchange fees for Merchant Category Code (MCC) 4900 shall be as given below:

Also, to standardize the category of transaction, MCC 6529 is assigned for Public Sector Insurance Companies.

1. For domestic interchange on all categories, please refer Annexure A. (GST will be applicable basis a multiplier of 1.1092).
2. The interchange on international transactions, please refer the below annexures:
a. For DFS - Annexure B
b. For JCB - Annexure C.

Haha, Mastercard already hike Utility category MDR 3 months ago -

 
coz it's one of the most abused categories....many ppl pay their commercial bills with personal cards and get massive points/cashback...plus interest free credit period...so helps them save interest on credit lines...
But here MDR is increased by network i.e Rupay / mastercard and not the bank.
