Air India miles usage

Can we also use air india family returns points for self and family booking now without two revenue bookings?
 
I think there are only 2 economy award seats per flight.
I didn't check business class
There are more than 2 but it was not allowing to book more than 2 award tickets in one booking (2 year back this was the case for domestic flight). So i booked 2 tickets in one pnr and again booked one more in other pnr (total award tickets may be 3-4 is my guess)
 
Maharaja club update: we can use CV / vouchers for family, if family is traveling along with voucher owner.
But we have to first create family pool to use cv aka maharaja club points for redeeming tickets. Same should hold true for business class vouchers
I tried to book a ticket for two with redemption and found that only my name is coming.
Then I wrote air india to create a family pool for me and next day I received a mail with instructions to create Family pool

I tried to book a ticket for two with redemption and found that only my name is coming.
Then I wrote air india to create a family pool for me and next day I received a mail with instructions to create Family pool
But you still need to complete two revenue flights and get the points from the second revenue flight in order to activate your points to book friends and family tickets using points
 
Successfully booked 2 return award flights using points.
No revenue flights required.
No Family Pool creation required.
Just contact cc and they will do it for you on call.

Edit: Tried calling the usual customer care number multiple times and got different responses.

Two people didn't find award availability, One person asked all details, but in the end told she chose wrong date and on that day it is not available.

One person said it requires 2 revenue bookings for others, we can book for u, if u want.

Two people told account is in suspended state due to Merger and need to send service request to customer care to activate the same, post which both I and they will be able to book. They will need about 2 working days. Sent the same.

Waste of 1.5 hrs.

Edit2: Tried again and this time agent booked it and sent payment link over email. I paid and then she issued the tickets. But the weird part is that points are not deducted. I told her, then she checked and said that it will be deducted in an hour. Hopefully it goes through.

Can you check if your points are deducted? If yes, after how much time of Booking?

Finally points got deducted after 24 hours.

Weird guys, few days back they refunded me without cancelling ticket for a booking cancellation. And now this time, they booked ticket without deducting miles.

P.S. Even though miles are deducted and I got sms and email for the same, I don't see it's history in points activity page in my login. Probably will take a day or two to show up.

Btw, I also got some email saying profile update successful. Seems like they have removed the suspension two guys told me about.
