Airtel Annual Plan Fiasco. Suggestion Needed!

So, I usually recharged Airtel's Rs. 1,799 plan which gave 24 GB for 336 days. If and when 24 GB was exhausted, I recharged for Rs. 301 which was data only plan giving 50 GB data having existing plan validity.

This was the best setup for me as I require occasional mobile data when I'm not at home with no limit on daily data limit.
When Airtel announced price hike, I queued up with another recharge of Rs. 1,799.

Now, what happened turned out was a big-big disaster for me. When the existing plan ended, just when the queued up plan got activated, plan validity showed 335 days left but data available was 0, it should've been 24 GB but it was ZERO. I didn't pay much heed and immediately searched for Rs. 301 plan which has now increased to Rs. 361 now I guess. To my surprise, I didn't check plan validity and found that it has now been devalued from existing plan validity to merely 30 days.

Basically, now I'm stuck in a bad bad place where Rs. 1,799 plan is a voice only plan and I've to recharge every now and then for data. A plan which was supposed to save money has turned out to be a big headache and the existing plan will be active till January 2026.

Now, suggestions I'm looking for is,

1. Shall I turn to Postpaid since it allows data carry forward and it shall be helpful when needed?

2. Will porting to Jio help? I do have a secondary number which is Jio only and I occasionally recharge it when I'm traveling in train and need internet connection for office work (Jio works much better in train travels as compared to Airtel) and this also keeps my number alive.

3. Any other suggestion in current situation I'm in? I've once recharged for Rs. 361 and 50 GB data is a lot to be consumed in 30 days as I don't use heavily when I'm out. After that plan ended, I recharged for Rs. 121 which gave 6 GB data and turns out, it's a bit less if you even use it heavily for merely one or 2 days. What should I do?

Help please!

I don't have any suggestion for you but I avoid these companies at all costs - even when offered for free - Jio/Reliance, Ola, Paytm, Adani, Byjus, OYO.
