ALL CREDIT CARD AUTOPAYMENT AT ONE PLACE

I have added ALL our CC bills (except 2, which are not on BBPS) and other bills (electricity...) to HDFC's AutoPay feature in my SBMax SB account with HDFC Bank. For the last 3 years, they are fetching all those bills and paying them before 4 days of their respective due dates. So far, so good.

Only on 2 occasions, that auto feature failed n money debited came back. HDFC sends intimations of such rare failures (due to recieving bank's failures) about 3 days before the due dates n asks you to pay manually.

I use the same account/DC to pay such bills - so that all payments are in one place.

HDFC is good at doing this dirty work for me. And, I let them do it. Ha ha ha
I can't find this AutoPay option for other credit cards. I managed to add an HSBC card using HDFC MyCards, but can't see an option to enable Autopay. Can you please share the steps?

Cred is working flawlessly but requires human intervention i just check the app on 15 and 28 of every morning as is dates cover my all credit which usually generate statements on 1,11,25 of every month

Login to internet banking or the mobile App. Select BillPay. There, you add billers - plenty of billers - category-wise.... Enable auto pay while adding. Select the way to debit - either direct debit to SB account or by debiting via Debit Card. That's it.
Observe for 1 or 2 months. Then rest assured.... And, be happy.

For BBPS enabled cards, apart from HDFC, I'd recommend Slice. HDFC pays the bills appropriately 4 days prior to due date. Slice pays just a day prior to due date.

If your CC issuing bank supports NACH, then NACH gets triggered only if it is not paid on the scheduled due date that may be different from actual due date. The amount that you prepay will be deducted from the due. If the due is nil, auto-pay won't be triggered.

Example: OneCard supports NACH auto-pay via multiple dates (before the actual due date). Axis supports NACH auto-pay, but never used.

ICICI doesn't support NACH.

For others, please check with the card issuing banks for the support of NACH auto-pay.

I am not sure how auto-pay in BBPS works (whether it deducts the prepaid amount or not). Needs to test it out in the coming months. If anyone already tested it, please share the details. Thanks.
This is what we need. Is this implemented by any app or site?

I am looking for something similar.
I will prefer paying manually but backup would be great.
Line 1: Statement generated, check balance in bank and pay minimum due. Notify me.
Line 2: Four days before due date, check if minimum due payment went through, if not than do it again. Notify me.
Line 3: If auto-pay didn't happned because low balance in bank, notify me. Don't charge me for bounce payment😁.

CRED has launched an autopay feature of all the credit cards that support BBPS. I have set it up and it's very helpful. It pays the due amount (minimum/total based on user settings) 2 days before the due date.

Just a Trivia:

Autopay, Late and Penalty Fee were first abused (on a national scale) as revenue (and profit) by Providian in the mid 90s (US ofc) and they changed the CC industry forever. And guess what the mastermind was of Indian (Origin). When CCs got mainstream in the developing world they were infected by Providian virus. PBS has a whole documentary on this check it out. Their Ass got sued and they went bankrupt but they changed the Industry forever.

We should, however, feel lucky that Banks don't have a free reign in India or they would bankrupt the nation in less than 24 hours.

This is not suited for us - as this does NOT opermit us to give a nickname for each bill. We have 6 bills - all TSSPDCL. We can't identify them individually - if we can't give nicknames - like GF-1, GF-2, FF-1 or FF-2. ...Neither the USCs are visible in the list. That way, HDFC AutoBillPay and Kotak's BillPay - are much better than this CRED's.

personally i had bad experience with HDFC...Once, they failed to pay my credit card bill and it hit my CIBIL, however, i had good relation with kotak as kotak black customer, they removed the delay entry as goodwill gesture

second time, they failed to pay my electricity bill and i had to live in dark for 2 days.

Any reliable solution...Pls suggest

I never missed any CC payment.

Since 1985. Over 50 CCs (closed) and currently holding 17 now - since 1985.

NEVER EVER missed even 1 payment.
Credit card bill payment method would have changed so much over 40 years. Before online methods, we used to drop cheque in bank atm. What was payment method like in 1980s and 90s? Did you go to multiple banks to pay credit card bills?

Usually, all banks used to print n post the bills - with some promo leaflets in window-envelops. Such bills, have a counterfoil in the computerised bill. Almost immediately upon reciept, I/we used to issue a locally payable crossed cheque favouriing that Bank a/c CC account number. A few banks - like AmEx n Citi n HSBC used to enclose a blank envelope - either stamped or pre-paid envelope (postage paid by the receiver).
I/We used to drop either cheques or those envelops in any nearby branch of that bank. Or, send by ordinary post only. No courier. No registered post. No Online transfers, No Standing Instructionsv No Automated BillPays, No electronic transfers like NEFT/ETF, No eMails, No SMSs, No UPI, No Mobile banking or No Internet Banking. Only physical clearing of cheques. Reflected in physical ledgers n physical passbooks - manually written n signed.

No EMIs, No Fee Waivers, No Cashbacks, No LTF, No regular limit enhancements, No lounge access, No mis-selling by agents, No need to go to RBIO, No OTPs, No RuPay and No GST. No MCCs, No exclusions. No CIBIL, No Experian, No Crif.....

CC Life was much simpler. Not complicated like now.

Have an .xls file with all the bills payable. Sorted. Category wise n date wise. PAY ALL BIILS as n when they are generated. Don't wait for the due dates or reminder SMSs from banks/others.

You will never ever miss any payment.
This is the way.
