How to Switch from Visa/Mastercard to RuPay

Each bank offers straightforward processes to switch to RuPay:

Final Notes

  1. RuPay cards are on par with Visa/Mastercard in terms of offers and features.
  2. Newly launched RuPay cards might not immediately qualify for e-commerce offers—contact the bank for updates (Everything starts working perfectly after a few months).
  3. RuPay's partnerships ensure seamless international acceptance.

Guys, does anyone know the procedure to apply for LIC Eclat card here? I have been trying to get in touch with LIC Cards' customer care number (which remains busy forever) and their email address, however I haven't gotten any response from their side yet. It seems these folks are not at all interested in selling this card.

Just sharing my thoughts on Rupay Cards.

Though I am happy overall by getting a Rupay Credit card from BoB, today I faced a big disappointment when I was trying to use my Rupay CC online. I was trying to book flight tickets on 'Cleartrip' today, to avail 20% discount on flights using BoB CC offer. To my shock, I found out that Cleartrip does NOT accept Rupay cards as payment method!! Because of this, I had pick another bank offer, settling with 12% discount. I also remember an incidence when I was trying to buy some Tea from GTAC's Tea Lounge in Guwahati, I saw its POS declining Rupay cards as payment method.

I am shocked to know that our own payment network does not work in the sites and POSs of our own country. A payment network can give attractive many offers. But in the end, it has to work on the basic things expected from it, one of which is acceptability. I am not expecting worldwide acceptance of Rupay Cards(though I have a great desire that it may be accepted worldwide), but I at least expect nationwide acceptance of them. I cannot roam with my pocket having only a Rupay card inside it. I have to carry a VISA card as a backup. Either Rupay should work with merchants and banks to enable near 100% acceptability, like VISA and Mastercard, or the Govt. should itself pass a mandate to force banks and merchants to accept Rupay cards, if they are accepting other payment networks. I don't think that there would be a loss to any stakeholder due to this mandate.
Good Update: BOB Premier Rupay Credit Cards are now working on Cleartrip.😄

If their customer care are not responding, then it is better to not take their card.

Another reason of card getting declined in POS machine is that, the BIN Number might not be updated in the system, or the POS machine might be too old that it does not accept RuPay cards.

I had requested for a RuPay variant of Hdfc card, and got this message today. No email so far. Wht does this mean? Have they converted my card? Because net banking still does not show the new card. D54B160D-4AC6-49E7-AA57-EA1006D5F7D9.jpeg

Yes, 100% all POS machines in India accept RuPay cards but some old POS machines are not updated. Sometimes latest version software update needed.

Yes, only apply through LIC agent.

One person already applied and he saw hard enquiry on credit score from IDBI bank but card is still not receive yet.

If he got the card, i will post here.

It's a LTF Rupay card and if approved one can get limit upto 10 Lakhs. Out of my 15 cards, I only have 1 BOB Premier on Rupay platform with a meagre limit of 75K. After RBI's UPI related notification, I am inclined towards getting this card as I can route most of my UPI related payments using it.

Thanks a lot for the info mate, I know a couple of LIC agents but afraid of contacting them as along with the card application they would push for their useless policies which I am not interested in at the moment.

LIC RuPay credit card available only for LIC policy holders.

If you already have any LIC policy, contact your agent.

Already have a couple of LIC policies which were pushed to me by one of my distant uncles (I am sure most of us have a distant uncle who is an LIC agent and who keeps on pestering all the relatives for taking more and more polices after all "insurance is a subject matter of solicitation" ). I can reach out to him for the card, however I am quite sure after seeing my ITR and salary slips (required for applying Eclat) he will start pestering me to buy more policies from him 😡.

Update: Received HDFC Regalia on Rupay Select network.

BIN: 652894 @Abhishek012

Approved yesterday and received today via Bluedart in another city.
This BIN number - 652894 allotted to HDFC bank 3 years ago but same time one more BIN number allotted 652895.

Now curious to know, which card BIN number is this 652895. I think Regalia Business RuPay 😀😀

Other HDFC credit card BIN number i already knew

652850 allotted to Bharat cashback, Bharat cashback business and IndianOil (all 3 cards issue on same BIN number).

last year 3 more BIN number allowed to HDFC bank.

652908 (i think this is Freedom New card)
652915 (if i m not wrong this is Moneyback+ card)
652916 (I guess this is Millennia New RuPay credit card)

This year 2 more new BIN now alloted to HDFC bank -

652925
652926

Don't know which card it will be.
