Introduction

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is set to launch RuPay credit cards with all major banks in the coming years. RuPay currently offers three main credit card variants:
  1. RuPay Classic (Basic/Standard)
  2. RuPay Platinum (Premium) // includes SwiggyOne, Spa, Gift Cards, and more.
  3. RuPay Select (Super Premium)
There are also two sub-types under RuPay Select:
  1. RuPay Select
  2. RuPay Select Wellness (includes Gym, Spa, Golf programs, and more).
Key Features of RuPay Credit Cards
  • International Acceptance: Supported by Discover Financial Services, Diners Club International, Pulse, and JCB.
  • Free Benefits: Lounge access, wellness perks, and e-commerce offers.
  • Bank Offers: RuPay cards are eligible for the same offers as Visa/Mastercard (e.g., 10% discounts on Amazon, Flipkart).
  • No Discrimination Between Networks: If your Visa/Mastercard is lifetime free, the RuPay equivalent will also be lifetime free.

11. Union Bank​

  • Available Cards: Union Bank RuPay 'Uni Carbon' HPCL Credit Card, RuPay Platinum, RuPay Select, 'Divaa' Women RuPay Platinum, RuPay JCB HEALTH Platinum and RuPay JCB Select credit cards

12. AU Small Finance Bank​

  • Available Cards: Business Cashback, IXIGO Co-branded RuPay Cards, Virtual Only, Spont.
  • Update 11th, December, 2024: Now all AU bank Credit Cards live on RuPay including AU LIT, Vetta, Zenith, AU Zenith+ RuPay Credit Card etc

13. IndusInd Bank​

  • Available Cards: eSvarna Corporate, Rupay Platinum, Samman RuPay Credit Cards.

14. RBL Bank​

How to Switch from Visa/Mastercard to RuPay​

Each bank offers straightforward processes to switch to RuPay:

Final Notes​

  1. RuPay cards are on par with Visa/Mastercard in terms of offers and features.
  2. Newly launched RuPay cards might not immediately qualify for e-commerce offers—contact the bank for updates (Everything starts working perfectly after a few months).
  3. RuPay's partnerships ensure seamless international acceptance.

I personally feel it's better to get additional rupay card rather than conversion mainly wrt lounge benefits.

Also not sure if same equivalent rewards are given for rupay when compared to visa or mc version

But UPI carda reward rate is comparatively low right?

Rewards points/cashback offer by Banks. Nothing to do with card networks.

Banks pay all your lounge bills, Card network benefits and all Rewards points/cashback etc.

Visa/mastercard is currently best for super premium and ultra premium cards and RuPay is best for premium cards and co-branded cards (However this will change in future).

Another thing is that, if you frequently use for international transaction then use Visa/mastercard. RuPay is also expanding internationally and also gives better conversion rates, so currently you can treat it like a secondary card.

There is no alternative for RuPay CC UPI.

If you want higher reward rate then swipe your RuPay Credit Card or if shopkeepers dnt have POS machine then you can't use any cards including Visa/mastercard. Only option you have RuPay CC UPI.

I was saying in general. Premium cards that offer higher rewards are not available in Rupay network right 😅

I have Axis IOCL rupay card(Paid), icici coral rupay (LTF), and Tata nue plus LTF but none of them give me good benefits on rupay card. suggest me better rupay card with no nonsense reward system. I have BoB premier LTF as visa signature, Indusnd pe legend LTF hai and many other cards. Please suggest some good rewarding rupay variant credit card.

Great News - Now get the same rewards on RuPay CC UPI transactions as we get on Credit Card transactions:

RuPay Credit Cards Rewards Parity w.e.f. 1st September 2024

Credit card rewards points are a key lever to drive spending on credit cards. It has been observed that the rewards points, benefits & features for RuPay credit cards on UPI transactions are not equivalent to the rewards points, benefits & features offered on Card transactions.

Member banks are expected to adhere to the circular by 1st September 2024.

Is it worth changing HDFC Millennia master Card to Rupay variant?
I think they both have same benefits and Rupay upi payment will be plus.
